Retailers begin importing E10 gasoline for sale
Records in Hanoi show that in addition to the pilot gas stations of Petrolimex and PVOIL piloting from August 2025, a number of retail businesses have imported goods to sell from the beginning of April 2026.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dang Van Dung - General Director in charge of business of INDEL Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (INDEL CORP) - said that immediately after having the orientation to convert according to Circular 50 on the roadmap for using E10 bio-gasoline, the unit has proactively prepared the necessary conditions for implementation. From April 1, 2026, the enterprise officially opened sales of E10 gasoline at 3 stores in Hanoi, including Ha Dong, Ngoc Hoi and Thanh Tri, becoming one of the pioneers in the market.
In the early days, sales activities were mainly exploratory, due to the limited level of consumer awareness of E10 gasoline. However, initial results were assessed as positive. Right on the first day, a store sold more than 3,600 liters of E10 gasoline. "This is a good sign, because it is only the first day of deployment and the output has reached such a level. This shows that if well-communicated and deployed synchronously, E10 can be completely accepted by the market. To limit risks in the initial stage, businesses choose a cautious import plan. This is to avoid prolonged inventory that may affect fuel quality and business efficiency" - Mr. Dung assessed.
From a market perspective, the trend of switching to bio-gasoline is considered inevitable, especially in the context of the world energy market constantly fluctuating, and the supply of traditional gasoline and oil shows signs of shrinking. The development of E10 not only contributes to reducing import dependence but also brings environmental benefits, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pollutants. However, to promote this process, business representatives believe that more specific support policies are needed, especially in terms of taxes. Accordingly, reducing environmental protection tax, special consumption tax, as well as having preferential corporate income tax mechanisms will help reduce blending costs, thereby creating a price competitive advantage for E10 gasoline compared to traditional gasoline.
“The selling price is a very important factor. If E10 has a more competitive price, consumers will easily accept and switch faster” - Mr. Dung emphasized. Besides the price factor, communication also plays a key role. “Consumers need to be provided with complete and accurate information to feel secure in using it. When they understand the benefits and quality of the product, they will be ready to change their habits” - Mr. Dung said.
Used stably, no different from RON95 gasoline
Real-world records show that many people have started switching to using E10 and have initial positive assessments. Mr. Nguyen Dang Minh, residing in Ha Dong (Hanoi) said that he proactively chose E10 gasoline when refueling on the first day the store opened for sale. According to him, switching to this type of fuel is not a random decision but based on information he has learned before.
Today I poured E10 gasoline. I also know that this is a bio-gasoline, mixed with about 10% ethanol, so it is more environmentally friendly. Information about E10 gasoline has been disseminated quite a lot in the media such as newspapers and television, helping people have a clearer view of the new fuel" - Mr. Minh shared. Not only recently using it, Mr. Minh said that he has had experience with E10 gasoline for a certain period of time. "I have been using this type of gasoline for about a few months now. During use, the vehicle still operates normally, and there is no significant difference compared to RON 95 gasoline" - he said. The reality from users like Mr. Minh shows that E10 gasoline is being welcomed by the market. This is also an important basis to promote the transition to clean fuel, towards the goal of sustainable development in the future.
