Fine a company over VND200 million for storing hazardous waste

A company in Thanh Hoa has just been fined more than 200 million VND for storing hazardous waste and illegally discharging waste.

On April 12, information from the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province said that it had just issued a decision to administratively sanction Binh Minh Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (address at N2 Market, Dong Huong Unit Market, Thanh Hoa City) with the amount of 214 million VND.

According to the penalty decision, the above company committed violations such as: not reporting to the competent state agency about the storage of hazardous waste in cases where it is kept for more than 1 year from the time of occurrence without finding a suitable hazardous waste treatment facility, and not having a feasible transportation plan.

The company was also discovered to discharge wastewater with common environmental pollution parameters exceeding technical standards (discharge of wastewater from the centralized wastewater treatment plant and the processing and trading area of seafood and seafood products in the Northeast of Dong Huong Market) directly into the environment.

For the above violations, Binh Minh Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company was fined VND 214 million and had to pay the cost of requesting environmental sample analysis.
