Motorbikes climbing sidewalks fined up to 6 million VND
Point a, clause 7, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP stipulates a fine of between 4 million VND and 6 million VND for drivers of vehicles traveling in the opposite direction of a one-way street, traveling in the opposite direction on roads with no-riding signs or driving vehicles on sidewalks.
The above regulations apply to drivers of motorbikes, mopeds, and similar vehicles to motorbikes and mopeds.

Meanwhile, acts of running along sidewalks to avoid congestion, overtaking traffic flows or shortening distances may still be penalized. Traffic congestion or traffic jams are not eligible for exemption.
Violators are also deducted 2 points from driver's licenses
In addition to a fine of 4 million VND to 6 million VND, motorcyclists traveling on the sidewalk will also be deducted 2 points from their driver's license according to point a, clause 13, Article 7 of Decree 168/2024/ND-CP.
According to regulations, each driver's license has 12 points. The deducted points are updated to the driver's license management database system after the penalty decision takes effect.
Decree 168/2024/ND-CP also stipulates the main forms of penalties for violations of road traffic order and safety, including warnings, fines or confiscation of vehicles used for violations.
Depending on the nature and severity of each act, violators may also be subject to additional penalties or remedial measures. Specifically for the offense of driving a motorbike on the sidewalk, the direct sanction is a fine of 4 million VND to 6 million VND and a deduction of 2 points from the driver's license.
