On electronic fuel injection (FI) motorcycles, flammable gasoline is a common term to refer to parts related to fuel supply and ignition, coordinating to help the engine operate stably.
In the fuel supply part, the system includes the fuel tank, gas pump, injector, throttle and related sensors. Meanwhile, the ignition system includes parts such as electronic controller, ignition bobin and spark plug, depending on the design of each car model.
These parts coordinate with each other to put fuel into the engine, control the amount of air loaded and create sparks at the right time.
According to advice from the Cung Motor Vehicle Maintenance Center (Dinh Cong ward, Hanoi), after a period of use, dirt may appear in the throttle area, filling line or injection needle, affecting certain operating capabilities.
Some common signs when a car needs to be checked include throttle failure, slow acceleration, difficult to start, unstable turns, or throttle and then engine stop.
However, these symptoms do not only originate from dirt. Spark plugs, ignition systems, sensors, gasoline pumps, fuel pressure, air filters or other mechanical parts may also be the cause.
With FI cars, the throttle is one of the positions to pay attention to when maintaining. When the area around the throttle is covered with a lot of sediment, the air flow through can be affected, thereby changing the responsiveness of the engine, especially in idle mode and when throttle is opened. The injector needle also needs to be checked if there are signs of unstable flow or injection.
Depending on the part, cleaning can be performed with specialized solution or appropriate equipment. For injection needles, some facilities use specialized equipment to check flow, injection type and sealability before and after the cleaning process.
After cleaning, checking the electronic control system may also be necessary if the car shows abnormal signs. The ECU (electronic control unit of the car) receives signals from multiple sensors, processes data and controls fuel injection, ignition and some other mechanisms depending on the car model.
Therefore, when the car shows signs of throttle failure, difficulty starting, fuel consumption or prolonged unstable operation, it is necessary to check the related systems to determine the correct cause before repairing.
