Here are some ways to help solve hyperpigmentation, shared by Dr. Ajay Rana, a famous dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon from India.
Apply sunscreen every day
Apply sunscreen every 4 hours or use a physical sunscreen as it protects your skin for a long time. This is the first and most important step to prevent and treat skin pigmentation.
Use apple cider vinegar
Use apple cider vinegar every day as part of your skin care routine. Apple cider vinegar contains polyphenol compounds that are beneficial in controlling skin pigmentation.
Vitamin C supplementation
Eat functional foods containing vitamin C or glutathione. These substances help enhance the ability to fight the harmful effects of UV rays on the skin.
Keep your skin moist
Always use moisturizers containing glycerin, hyaluronic acid and retinol. These ingredients help promote cell regeneration, helping to fade skin pigmentation and dark spots.
Choose skin care products that contain AHA and kojic acid
Always choose products that contain alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), as it helps reduce skin pigmentation. In addition, ingredients such as vitamin C, licorice root and wholic acid also have the effect of inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase - the cause of the formation of melanin, a substance that causes skin to darken.
Black tea
Use black tea water to apply to the pigmented skin. Soak a piece of cotton in black tea and apply it to the pigmented skin at least twice a day.
Do not scratch the pigmented skin
Scratching or rubbing the pigmented skin will increase inflammation, making the skin worse. The earlier treatment is done, the easier it will be to get rid of skin pigmentation. If left for a long time, brown pigment can eat deep into the skin, making treatment more difficult.
Use gentle skin care products
Always choose gentle skin care products that do not cause acne or irritation, because irritated skin can aggravate pigmentation and dark spots, especially melasma.
