1. Low humidity
When the air is dry, the skin loses its natural moisture, making it look dull and dull. In fact, most of us tend to neglect our skin care regimen during the winter. Hyperpigmentation can be caused by either of these two reasons. Therefore, you should stick to your skin care routine and use the right amount of moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated.
Solution: AHAs like glycolic acid and lactic acid can remove dead skin cells along with moisture from the dermis layer of the skin. If you don’t drink enough water, your skin can become dehydrated, which can lead to dull skin tone and a dull complexion. So drink plenty of water and eat a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables to bring out your skin’s natural radiance.
2. Too much exposure to sunlight
Many people do not apply sunscreen because they want their skin to absorb enough sunlight. Some people also do not apply sunscreen when it is cloudy. However, UVA rays can cause skin to darken. Therefore, you should apply sunscreen whenever you are exposed to sunlight.
Solution: Apply sunscreen every day, at least 15-20 minutes before going outside because it needs time to absorb into the skin. Reapply sunscreen every 4 hours or use a physical sunscreen because it has a long-lasting protection effect. This will help prevent and treat hyperpigmentation.
3. Eat hot food
During winter, consumption of foods like tea, coffee, nuts, spices and alcohol often increases. This makes your skin redder and more irritated, and more prone to hyperpigmentation.
Solution: Limit your intake of these foods. Instead, eat avocados, tomatoes, berries, and yogurt regularly, as they help reduce pigmentation. Additionally, using niacinamide, azelaic acid, and mineral water can help reduce flare-ups and redness.
