In the remarkable development journey of Vietnamese medicine, especially in the field of organ transplantation and pancreatic liver surgery, Dr. Le Trung Hieu has always been mentioned as a symbol of intelligence, courage and compassion.
Right when he was still in school, Dr. Le Trung Hieu determined: Doctors are not special people, but the medical profession is special. The medical profession is not only to treat an individual but also to contribute to the community, with clear social responsibility".
Dr. Le Trung Hieu graduated as a Doctor from the Military Medical Academy in 2012. Continuing that journey, he studied the Doctor of Surgery program at the Organ Transplant Center, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital under the direct guidance of Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quang Nghia, Director of the Center. Here, the young doctor had the opportunity to participate in many liver transplants, witnessing each revival after each surgery. Those moments became an endless source of inspiration, lighting up the passion in the young doctor's heart and helping him realize the path he wanted to take - the path dedicated to medicine, dedication and the desire to save people.
Not stopping there, young doctor Le Trung Hieu continues to study in depth about pancreatic and pancreatic Surgery and liver transplantation in developed countries such as France and South Korea from 2018 to 2023.
In 2023, Dr. Le Trung Hieu successfully defended his doctoral thesis in Gastroenterology at the 108 Institute of Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy Research, affirming his research and academic capacity at the highest level.

Born and raised in a family with a tradition of 3 generations of medical practice, Dr. Le Trung Hieu fully inherited the spirit of a soldier and a military doctor from him and his father. His father - Major General, Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Le Trung Hai, former Deputy Director of the Military Department, Chairman of the Vietnam liver and liver Association, is a surgeon who participated in the first liver transplant in Vietnam in 2004. His mother is Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Excellent physician Phan Viet Nga, former Head of the Department of Neurology, Military Hospital 103, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for Neurology. Both father and son have left proud marks in the field of organ transplantation, mentioned by colleagues with respect and love.
With a spirit of dedication, exemplaryness, and dedication to patients, Dr. Le Trung Hieu continues the family's golden tradition, contributing to the glory of the Vietnamese medical industry and continuing the story of silent but meaningful dedication of soldiers - military doctors.
Dr. Le Trung Hieu shared: "Getting used to the hospital environment early, seeing my father still go to the hospital at midnight for emergency surgery many times, so since I was a child, I have dreamed of becoming a doctor to treat and save people".
Continuing that proud tradition, Dr. Hieu became an excellent surgeon of the Department of Geared Surgery, now Deputy Director in charge of managing and operating the Organ Transplant Center, 108 Central Military Hospital - the place with the largest number of liver transplants in Vietnam. After more than a decade in the medical profession, with organ transplants, Dr. Hieu is not only a talented surgeon but also a teacher, an inspiration for many generations of young doctors.
Dr. Le Trung Hieu and his colleagues have achieved many breakthroughs: Hundreds of liver transplants, kidney transplants, and complex organ transplants have been successfully performed, bringing life and hope to many patients.
Behind the serious appearance of a surgeon is a warm, kind heart. For patients, Dr. Le Trung Hieu is always a dedicated, gentle, and patient doctor. Dr. Le Trung Hieu is the author of more than 20 scientific research works, including 4 international articles with great influence indexes in the ISI and Scopus systems. Dr. Hieu is also a co-author of 2 specialized textbooks, contributing to the training of the younger generation of doctors.
The efforts in research and innovation have been recognized through many prestigious awards: First Prize of the 25th and 28th Hanoi Regional Health Sector Youth Creative Technical and Sports Festival; Award of Excellence of the 17th Vietnam University and Pharmaceutical College Conference; First Prize of the 50th Army Creative Youth Award; Award of Outstanding Creative Works and Products in 2022.
Dr. Le Trung Hieu also regularly attends international conferences. In addition to working at the Organ Transplant Center, 108 Central Military Hospital, Dr. Hieu is also a lecturer at the Department of Gastroenterology, Institute of Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy Research 108. Dr. Le Trung Hieu is also a guest lecturer at many prestigious training institutions such as: VinUni University, Military Medical Academy, Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
In addition, he has held many important roles in professional associations: General Secretary of the Vietnam Gastroenterological and Surgical Association; Standing member and Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Gastroenterological and Gastroenterological Surgery Association; member of the International and Asia-Pacific Gastroenterological and Gastroenterological Surgery Association, the International liver Transplant Association and the International Association of Gastroenterology Surgeons.
