The men's singles final match of the 43rd National Table Tennis Championship - 2025 in Da Nang witnessed a victory, winning the Gold Medal of tennis player Dinh Anh Hoang against his senior Nguyen Anh Tu.
I still remember right after the last ball scored against Anh Tu, I was lying on the floor full of emotion. I got the Gold Medal in men's singles after many years of waiting. The feeling of victory and championship is hard to describe, Dinh Anh Hoang recalled.
Round two years ago, Dinh Anh Hoang had the opportunity to first win the national menu. But in the men's singles final (also against Nguyen Anh Tu) of the 41-2023 National Table Tennis Tournament, Dinh Anh Hoang lost the match, so he received a silver medal. After two years, the player under the T&T People's Police team was confident to play in front of his seniors and succeeded, achieving the set goals.
When asked Dinh Anh Hoang what helped him to purely master speeds strong enough for opponents to resist and win decisively, the tennis player laughed and confided: "I don't have any secret, it's all about hard work and concentration during the competition. All table tennis athletes always practice every day to achieve good technique".
The story of Dinh Anh Hoang's career has been widely shared by the media nationwide, but the tennis player believes that he is always cautious and modest, knows how to learn without discerning and should strive. Having graduated from the Hanoi T&T table tennis training center and then joined the T&T People's Public Security Team, Dinh Anh Hoang is not a native of the North.
The tennis player was born in Dak Lak but his origin was in Hoi An (Quang Nam). The person who discovered and noticed that Dinh Anh Hoang had potential for future professional development was coach Vu Manh Cuong. While looking for talented athletes at a youth tournament, he targeted Dinh Anh Hoang.
After that, Dinh Anh Hoang was invited to Hanoi to practice. With the approval of his family, the boy Dinh Anh Hoang is determined to "change his life" towards a career as a professional table tennis player when following Mr. Vu Manh Cuong.

Having competed at all levels, Dinh Anh Hoang was able to compete against many of Vietnam's top players and international opponents. However, the memorable memory that this tennis player shared a lot was still the competition at the 19th ASIAD.
Dinh Anh Hoang had the first time to attend the biggest arena of ASIAD 1922 in Hangzhou (China). However, the tennis player shared: "If we talk about the value of achievements, each tournament brings me many memories. However, I have gained significant experience after competing at the 19th ASIAD in 2022. At that time, the Vietnamese table tennis team competed with the world's number 1 team, China, so the matches were really emotional for me".
More than a week ago, Wang Chuqin won the Gold Medal in men's singles at the 2025 World Table Tennis Championship. Looking back at the 19th ASIAD and watching the 2025 World Table Tennis Championship, I find it interesting that I have competed with the world champion. This is truly a meaningful match, Dinh Anh Hoang laughed.
When Dinh Anh Hoang started practicing table tennis, many analyzed that the tennis player would be at a disadvantage due to her small low body. Even friends in the professional world nickname Dinh Anh Hoang Hoang "max".
But from Mr. Vu Manh Cuong's perspective, if the tennis player is meticulous, all weaknesses can improve. "We evaluate Dinh Anh Hoang for his efforts and will to compete. Each table tennis player needs no less than 10 years to improve himself to succeed in his peak professional competition career.
Dinh Anh Hoang is no exception. Once, Hoang lost his concentration in training and competition. Of course, there are times when athletes are discouraged because it is difficult to achieve results and teachers like us always encourage and point out the strengths to help students achieve the highest results, coach Vu Manh Cuong analyzed.
Opportunity to succeed at the SEA Games if confident
Dinh Anh Hoang is one of the players who won the SEA Games Gold Medal for the history of Vietnamese table tennis. In 2023 in Cambodia, Dinh Anh Hoang paired with his teammate Tran Mai Ngoc to win the Gold Medal in the men's and women's doubles event.
The number one male tennis player in Vietnam believes: "I don't want to repeat the above results much because everyone is looking forward to it. At each SEA Games, our athletes are determined to achieve the best results. I competed in the first SEA Games in 2019 in the Philippines.
I did not win a medal. But at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam, I won the first Bronze Medal in the team event and the 32nd SEA Games was a milestone that helped me win the Gold Medal. This year, I am trying to find an opportunity to participate in the 33rd SEA Games and will definitely compete to the best of my ability.
Since the 28 2017 SEA Games, Vietnamese table tennis has always won at least one Gold Medal at the Southeast Asian Games. Dinh Anh Hoang remembers when he was busy practicing table tennis and watched the SEA Games on television and secretly wished for such a day. When competing in the actual SEA Games, Dinh Anh Hoang found the excitement inevitable.
"Table tennis is a fierce competition. Therefore, if you miss the point, you can completely lose the match. I have participated in the SEA Games 3 times and have accumulated professional skills for myself. I am very encouraged when the teachers show me with their experience that: Playing against opponents is learning them and each attack is a time I can learn and improve, said Dinh Anh Hoang.
As the number one Vietnam, the player Dinh Anh Hoang certainly has the opportunity to participate in the Vietnam table tennis team in 2025. We have the most important goal of striving to win from 1 to 2 gold medals at the 33th SEA Games and of course, which is the 32nd male and female SEA Games 32nd, Dinh Anh Hoang takes responsibility for completing the above mission.
