On June 4, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee Nguyen Van Hung chaired the 5th Conference of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Olympic Committee for the 6th term (2021-2026).
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that in the first 6 months of 2025, in the context of the world with many advantages and disadvantages, the Vietnamese sports industry has received the attention of the Party and State leaders, the support of the people and the development. Contributing to the overall success of the industry, playing a big role of the Vietnam Olympic Committee.
Reported at the Conference, Mr. Tran Van Manh, General Secretary of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, said that in the first 5 months of 2025, the Vietnam Olympic Committee has successfully completed the planning plan and implemented many highly effective sports activities, contributing to the development of the mass sport movement in the country and high achievement in the international arena.

In the remaining 7 months of 2025, one of the important and challenging tasks for Vietnamese sports is to participate in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand and the Asian Youth Sports Festival in Bahrain.
At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet - Director of the Vietnam Department of Physical Training and Sports said that in order to have the best preparation for important tasks, the Vietnam Department of Physical Training and Sports has been strengthening the direction of relevant units to prepare athletes and the best conditions for the Vietnamese sports delegation to participate and achieve good results.
In the recent past, the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports has actively coordinated with the Vietnam Olympic Committee, Federations, National Sports Associations, localities and relevant ministries and branches to focus on training to improve the qualifications of athletes, increase nutritional supplements, nutritional regimes, equipment for training, competition, medical care and other necessary conditions as well as training and competition abroad, helping the teams to properly implement the set plan.
In particular, select and divide the subject groups to focus on investing and sending excellent athletes to train abroad, compete in domestic and international tournaments to improve professional qualifications, accumulate experience and competitive mentality for athletes.
It is expected that the Vietnam Sports Delegation will attend the Congress with about 1,000 members, including nearly 50 doctors, medical staff, and team leaders.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung requested the Vietnam Olympic Committee to continue to focus on completing assigned tasks well, especially closely coordinating with the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports in analyzing and forecasting the capabilities at events, most recently the 33rd SEA Games and the Asian Youth Sports Festival.
In addition, the Minister also requested the Vietnam Olympic Committee to continue to maintain and promote the Olympic movement, thereby helping Federations and Associations have a basis for concretization suitable to their professional nature and profession; selecting truly outstanding and exemplary athletes from grassroots tournaments, supplementing forces for sports; improving communication and orientation; actively mobilizing resources to increase policies, strengthen funding mobilization, and good management of resources to "collect correctly, collect enough, spend correctly, spend enough" towards the rights of athletes, resolutely overcoming deviations.
At the conference, delegates voted to replace and supplement the Executive Committee's personnel after some delegates resigned.
The delegates unanimously agreed to absolutely trust and elect Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet to the position of Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, creating conditions for the Executive Committee to continue to fulfill its tasks well in 2025.
