On June 7, Colombian Senator Miguel Uribe was assassinated in Bogota while campaigning, according to confirmation from his government and party. Local media said he is being treated at a hospital in critical condition.
The 39-year-old veteran - a candidate for Colombia's 2026 presidential election - is a member of the conservative Democratic Center (DC) party.
According to DC, Uribe was holding a campaign event at a public park in the Fontibon neighborhood of the capital Bogota when those with guns fired from behind.
Meanwhile, many local sources revealed that at least one bullet was fired at Mr. Uribe's neck or head.
Uribe's party described the attack as serious but did not disclose further details about theuysner's health.

Mr. Uribe comes from a famous family in Colombia. His father is a businessman and union leader, while his mother - journalist Diana Turbay - was kidnapped by an armed group under the late drug lord Pablo Escobar. She was killed in a rescue operation.
