Hoang Huong Giang - a talented young painter, has devoted all his passion to traditional Do paper. For her, Do paper is not simply a means of creation but also the soul of a long-standing culture, a bridge connecting the past with the present.
Born in 1988 in a peaceful countryside in Tuyen Quang, Huong Giang grew up in a family with an artistic tradition. Raised in a creative space since childhood, she soon showed her talent for painting and became involved with the palm tree since the age of 14. With a strong passion, she decided to pursue a career in fine arts. After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Theatre and Cinema, she chose to develop her talent with a painting line on Do paper, a decision that was not only artistic but also expressed her desire to preserve traditional national values.

Not only loves creativity, artist Huong Giang also has a special respect for Do paper. painting on Do paper is not easy. Just one small mistake, the artist may have to abandon the painting and start over. However, she noticed that Do paper has outstanding advantages such as high durability and moisture resistance. The rough surface of Do paper also creates a nostalgic visual effect, colorful with time. Combined with natural mineral colors, Huong Giang artist's works not only carry a strong traditional breath but also ensure a contemporary aesthetic taste, including feng shui, connecting sky and earth.
Do paper is an artistic flow associated with the history of the nation, an core part of Vietnamese culture. I feel responsible for preserving and developing it, artist Huong Giang shared.
The main source of inspiration in the 8X female artist's paintings is the image of lotus flowers. Huong Giang not only paints lotus flowers as a high-altitude flower, but also conveys the philosophy of life and the spirit of thuc. "Lent is a symbol of peace, of the soul rising from the mud while still maintaining purity. I paint myself through the image of lotus flowers, each color reflects a part of my life" - Huong Giang confided.
Preserving to make Do paper winch
The journey to preserve and develop Do paper paintings is not an easy road. In the era of integration, when modern paintings take power, it is difficult for Do paper paintings to have a solid position. But with passion, perseverance and creativity, artist Hoang Huong Giang is determined not to lose the value of this traditional painting.
In 2022, she brought the Phuc Am craft project to participate in the "Creative Startup" contest in Tuyen Quang with the desire to contribute to the preservation and development of traditional Do paper paintings. Not stopping at domestic competitions, Giang also brought her paintings to the world. Her works have appeared in many international exhibitions such as: Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and most recently the exhibition "Flow" at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. In the near future, artist Huong Giang will continue her journey to bring artistic materials imbued with national identity to Austria in March 2025.

In addition to composing, Hoang Huong Giang also devotes much of his passion to art education. She organizes painting classes and Do paper painting workshops for both children and adults. I not only want to teach how to paint, I want to spread my love for Do paper, for traditional art. I believe that if every young person understands and loves cultural heritage, Do paper paintings will have a brilliant future" - Huong Giang said.
Not only a painter, Hoang Huong Giang also wants to become a connector to paint Do paper not only as a heritage but also vividly in contemporary life. With her strong passion and perseverance, she is gradually taking the Do paper painting out of the shadow of the past to shine in the future.
This road is still long, but I believe that every drawing, every story that I tell through painting will help Do paper have a more solid position in the hearts of the public - Huong Giang affirmed.
