Overwhelmed standing in front of 20,000 spectators
How did Jun Pham feel after the recent concert "Call Me by Fire"?
- It has been a while since the performance. Thinking back to before October 19, I was busy preparing for the concert. My feelings right now are similar to preparing for the performance. I am very nervous.
That day, when I went on stage to perform, I was overwhelmed with emotion because I didn't think the audience would be so large and enthusiastic. Because all the performances that I performed in the program only had about 350 audiences at the studio. But during the concert, the number increased many times, not to mention the lighting, everything made me overwhelmed. This is truly a memorable memory for Jun Pham's career.
To prepare for the concert of "Call Me by Fire", what difficulties and challenges did Jun Pham and the "talents" encounter?
- Extremely difficult! The program has 33 "talents", although the time was calculated in advance, but the "talents" all have their own shows so it is very difficult to gather them together. There are only 3 days to practice for a grand program.
The "talents" were very worried and at first everyone thought the show would not be successful. But everything was resolved smoothly. In addition, the crew was very professional from the lighting, sound, everything was well prepared. At that time, the guys just needed to change clothes and go on stage to perform.
In the show, all the "talents" are very experienced and understand each other, so when they go on stage, they all shine as if this is their own stage and not a shared stage. We really had a great night.
Previously, there was information that the "talents" had conflicts and skipped the "Call Me by Fire" concert rehearsal. What is the truth?
- If so, I think it's normal because Uncle Thu (director Dinh Ha Uyen Thu) is a very talented person, but also has a hot temper. When we go on stage, especially boys, when we practice, we are very naughty and get scolded by Uncle Thu.
But that scolding didn't happen just once or twice. From the beginning of the show until now, we have been severely criticized by the director every day. When people (netizens) shared the clip of us practicing on stage and being scolded by Uncle Thu, we were very surprised. But personally, I think that the "talents" are all boys, no one took it to heart and everything was resolved well.
When standing in front of 20,000 spectators at the concert "Call Me by Fire", did Jun Pham feel pressured?
- I used to think I would feel pressured, because I only perform 1 song per performance, but in concerts I perform up to 10 songs (Jun Pham is one of the people who receive the most songs). However, in every performance, I wear clothes that are more outrageous than others, so it takes me a long time to change my costumes. If I had the biggest pressure, I think it was changing my performance costumes.
Performing live on such a grand stage, I was worried that I would be overwhelmed? But miraculously, right from the first song (Hoa Ca) with the other "talents" on stage, we all performed very well, confidently and comfortably. I felt like that concert was like a fan meeting, not a formal performance.
Which names does Jun Pham want to be in the almighty family?
- I definitely choose my close friends first. There are 2 people I see who are very hard-working and transformed, the first is Duy Khanh. This is the first time Duy Khanh tries his hand at being a singer and also has to perform on stage, not to mention Duy Khanh changes clothes a lot. I am very surprised and regretful that Duy Khanh is not part of the all-powerful family.
The second person is Thien Minh, who has been my friend for nearly 20 years. Minh is also a slow person, but when he joins the program, he completely changes. I see that he is more stylish and more playful. Thien Minh sings all kinds of music and is willing to fly to serve the performance.
I also feel a bit regretful that my two friends did not get into the almighty family. However, now when looking back at the "talents" in the almighty family, everyone is worthy, it is difficult for anyone to replace them.
No matter how difficult it is, we will do it!
Did Jun Fan ever feel pressured to leave "Call Me by Fire"?
- I don't have the habit of stopping halfway, no matter how difficult it is, I will do it, never give up.
When I get into the swing of things, especially when it comes to performing, I tend to be a perfectionist. But for an artist, I think perfectionism is necessary.
I learned this from my teacher, Ms. Ngo Thanh Van. She is always a perfectionist and meticulous in every step, so when I joined the group, I also applied that formula (when I was working with the 365 music group managed by Ngo Thanh Van). But when the final performances came, I realized that the "talents" were not from the 365 group, they had their own egos, they were individual artists, they also wanted to show their own colors, so from then on I became more gentle.
The pressure for me is still the clothes and costumes. Because when I go on stage, if I perform in a group that is too different, people won't be able to tell that this is a band.
What was your goal when coming to "Call Me by Fire"?
- I didn't have any goals when I joined the show, I just joined for fun. My team initially thought it was just a game, but then they got more serious. They started to worry about fashion designs, staying up until 2 to 3 am to make costumes for me to perform.
There were nights when I had to perform 3 songs, requiring 3 costumes that were culturally appropriate, not just wearing nice clothes to meet the criteria. And the program's requirements were very high, requiring neatness and professionalism. The other "talents" in the program did not have to wear any costume they were given. Because they had to find out where it came from and what its purpose was in order to perform appropriately.
When Jun Pham participated in the program "Call Me by Fire", did he confide in Ngo Thanh Van? What advice did she give him?
- Actually, I didn't take the initiative to confide in you. First of all, I'm also an adult. I don't want to bother you with your personal matters.
Only when it is related to common work, for example movies, will I tell Ms. Ngo Thanh Van.
When I joined "Call Me by Fire", I thought the show was similar to the game shows "Sao nhap ngu" and "Chay di cho chi", I could handle it. But I didn't expect that in episode 1, the show immediately played a clip of Ms. Van encouraging me.
That was a big surprise for me. I was very touched and cried backstage. Her love for me was so great. I also think it was thanks to her encouragement that I was able to perform well in the first song on the show, "Tan Thoi".
Another thing that people probably don't know is that I was very stressed before the concert. That day, Van called me. At that time, I thought she was calling to discuss an upcoming project that we were both working on together.
But Ms. Van asked me about the concert. I told her that I was performing tomorrow so I was quite nervous. At that time, she encouraged me a lot. Ms. Van said that this was the moment for me to shine, to put aside all the bad things and move towards more positive energy.
Those words of encouragement helped me perform better at the concert "Call Me by Fire" on October 19.
