In the midst of a vast green world, knowledge silently blooms
The road leading to the heritage park squeezed around the mountain slopes like a silver silk strip. Nature here is not majestic, but whispering like an old friend, picking up step by step with the incense of the forest, with the sound of the wind slightly through the canopy. Right from the first moment of arrival, people could not help but feel small, not because of the immense scenery, but because of the vague but sacred presence of senior intellectuals.
Starting from a land plot of only 2.7 hectares in 2008, Meddom Park has developed into a nearly 30ha space, a museum complex - storage center - scientific experience area and ecological resort. Here, more than 500 species of flowers and nearly 200 species of precious trees are cared for as a living memory, creating a space that is both academic and relaxing like a meditation place.
The park's focal point is the Book Building, a unique architectural work that simulates the image of an open book. With a floor area of up to 6,000m2, the building is not only a symbol of constantly expanding knowledge, but also the largest scientific document repository in the country with more than 1 million pages of documents, 35,000 artifacts and personal records of nearly 2,000 Vietnamese scientists in many fields such as: Medicine, physics, chemistry, culture, society...
Meddom Park is not only a place to preserve materials, but also a space to feel and deeply feel the people who have quietly laid the first brick for modern Vietnamese science. The thematic exhibitions here do not tell stories in words, but in the breath of the relics themselves.
The exhibition "Deep in each Relic" is for example, a wordless conversation between viewers and the great men of the past. Professor Ton That Tung's headphones, Tran Dai Nghia's gun drawings, Ho Dac Di's surgical hat... all have their own way of telling the story. That story is not noisy, but it is as sharp and profound as the eyes of an old teacher looking at students after class.
Not stopping there, this place also actively implements document digitization, expanding access for researchers and the academic community. More than 70 exhibitions have been held since 2010, attracting tens of thousands of visitors, including many young students and scholars - those who are looking for a way from the past to enter the future.
Ms. Dang Minh Trang - a tourist from Hanoi shared after the visit: "I have been to many museums, but this is the only place that makes me feel like I am walking among the unfinished stories of scientists. The green, peaceful space and the way each artifact is told all make me both moved and grateful."
Inspiration for today and tomorrow
Perhaps the most special thing about this heritage park is the ability to connect memories with the present. This place constantly renews itself to become an inspiring educational space. Regular STEM experience programs for students turn this place into a "laboratory in nature", where book theory becomes vivid through each model and each experiment.
As of 2024, more than 20,000 students from all over the country have come here to learn about mechanical principles through games, understand biology by observing insects, or explore the scientific history of Vietnam through items that once belonged to the "giants" in the industry.
For the older generation, this heritage space has another shade: Rest, recovery and nostalgia. The villas nestled in the pine forest, the warm Northwest meals in the rustic stone space, the sound of birds every morning... all create a "set of peaceful remedies" for those who have lived quickly and quickly.
For more than a decade, the people behind this heritage park have been quietly collecting, preserving, and spreading the fire. More than 2,500 character interviews, nearly 50,000 original documents, thousands of artifacts that have never been published, all are evidence of a passionate and persistent journey. Without showing off, without needing stage lights, the park is a place where knowledge is preserved by the heart.
Here, science is no longer a dry concept in books. It is life, the voice, the breath. This heritage park is not only for those who do research, but for all those who value knowledge and are patriotic in a quiet way through work, through thinking, through seemingly very small things.
Mr. Khuong Xuan Lich - Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Phong commune, Cao Phong district said that from a pristine area, Bac Phong now has a national project like Meddom Park. This is not only a tourist highlight but also a symbol of the connection between nature and Vietnamese intelligence.
"We highly appreciate the park's role in raising public awareness of the value of science, and believe that this place will increasingly attract many tourists, especially the younger generation," said Mr. Lich.
