As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 7:15 a.m. on May 5, a loud explosion issued from the 2nd floor of Mr. Vi Van Mung's house in Phuc Tan Commune (Pho Yen City, Thai Nguyen) left 1 person dead and 3 people injured.
The scene of the explosion was devastated and ruined. The second floor wall of the house collapsed and blew away. On the first floor, the furniture was crushed, damaged, and scattered on the floor.

As a household with a house near the scene of the explosion, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh (Pho Yen City) said that at the time of the incident, she was working in the house when she suddenly heard a loud explosion from the outside.
"The explosion was so loud that I felt the furniture in the house move slightly. Everyone in the area was startled and didn't understand what was happening," said Ms. Binh.
According to local people, after the explosion, many pieces of debris such as bricks and tiles were fired around, some fell onto an empty lot dozens of meters away from the scene.
"Fortunately, the road was quite deserted at that time, with no people or vehicles passing through, otherwise it was very dangerous," said a local resident.
Information from the People's Committee of Phuc Tan commune, among the victims who died, the identity of the person who died in the explosion has not yet been determined.
The three injured people include Mr. Vi Van Mung, Vi Van Binh (Mr. Mung's younger brother), Luu Van Tu (Mr. Mung's cousin).
The cause of the explosion is currently being investigated and clarified by the police.
