3-time ASIAD record
The coaching staff of the Vietnamese badminton team has determined that Nguyen Thuy Linh will be one of the 7 players preparing to compete in ASIAD 20 in September. Nguyen Thuy Linh's own professional statistics show that if she gets to Japan, she will participate in the ASIAD arena for the 3rd consecutive time. No other female badminton player in Vietnam has this. Nguyen Thuy Linh's previous participations were ASIAD 18 in 2018 in Indonesia and ASIAD 19 in 2023 in China.
Thuy Linh once humbly shared right during her training at Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports: "I am wholeheartedly striving to have the best physical strength and expertise. ASIAD is a place that attracts all world-class Asian tennis players to participate, so playing here is a precious opportunity to help me develop and improve my expertise".
Therefore, Nguyen Thuy Linh brings records as well as history in Vietnamese badminton. Thuy Linh can be considered a rather special case. The special thing is that she has never won a truly outstanding international tournament championship, but the tennis player is always in the Top 20 of the world on the BWF International Badminton Rankings. Therefore, this Vietnamese female tennis player often receives the most important opportunities to participate in high-level arenas.
3 years ago at ASIAD 19, Nguyen Thuy Linh entered the women's singles third round. That is considered the best professional result she has ever had when participating in the Asian Games in her forte, women's singles. After 3 years, Thuy Linh's experience has accumulated more. She has had victories that bring valuable emotions to herself as well as consecutive championship achievements at the 2022, 2023, 2024 Vietnam Open Badminton Tournament.
Last year, Nguyen Thuy Linh emotionally shed tears when losing the women's singles final of the 2025 Vietnam Open Badminton Tournament to opponent Cai Yanyan (China). That emotion was not entirely due to the result of the defeat. There, Thuy Linh's tears were the emotion of witnessing a large number of fans filling the stands cheering for her when the tournament took place in Ho Chi Minh City. The player said after the final match of the 2025 Vietnam Open Badminton Tournament: "I had an extremely valuable experience of receiving love and cheers from badminton fans in our country.

Nguyen Thuy Linh was born in 1997. As a famous badminton athlete, she is very focused on her studies. After graduating from Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports, Thuy Linh continued to complete her academic career and obtained a Master's degree. Last year, Thuy Linh received a Master's degree in Education at Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports. She implemented the topic: "Research on selecting exercises to develop speed endurance for men's badminton athletes aged 14 - 15 of the National Youth Team at Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports". Thuy Linh's dream is to become a university lecturer when she finishes her athlete career.
Thuy Linh has won official slots for the Olympics in 2020 in Japan and 2024 in France twice in a row.
