Having worked as a journalist, Xuan Mai has traveled a lot. Her mark on every trip is the poems. The poems in the collection are almost arranged in order of time.
I appreciate your sincere feelings towards those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
When she went to Dien Bien, she wrote Confessions of the Tomb of Nobles - With Names:
...'thank God
The tomb of Nobles has a Name
The row of letters behind the soft rice stele"
... "The land buzzed at night with the sound of peach trees pulling firecrackers
The decisive battle on a bloody high hill
The red flag flew low, smiling at me"...
... "Oh, the huge tears of fossil
May the peace of the ancient city be enjoyed".
Coming to Ha Tinh, she wrote "Mid-A-During the Storm of Dong Loc":
... "ten daughters dissolve into the motherland
Connecting blood vessels in the road with drops of youth blood
Live in the spring with ten bright faces
The whole country is filled with peaceful sleep
Ten pink sparkles in the red hot homeland
Heroic Dong Loc fell".
The poem was set to music by musician Phuong Tai, the song of the same name won 3 awards in the writing campaign for "The Women's Paralyzed in Nga Ba Dong Loc", Ha Tinh, in 2006.
Recalling the historic March and April days, poet Xuan Mai wrote the poem "Memory Profile". She captioned the poem at the end: Each officer and soldier going to B - to the Southern battlefield - sends the State a set of personal records. After the Liberation, these documents were returned by the State to that individual, or sent to the relatives of the person who died.
... "Through shaking hands to lift the collections of memorial records
I feel sorry for you, teammates... every bit of your life
Who knows if it is a collective of records"...
... "Each set of documents simply saves a name
But he has sent his whole heart to the people who are defending the country
Offering blood and bones to pay tribute to the Fatherland's flag
It is an oath of independence and freedom.
Coming to Khanh Hoa, she wrote the article "Peace message":
... "Stoles of brothers rising high in the cycle of immortality
Standing tall to face the enemy
The name of the gate Ma has been around for centuries
The message of continued success - the wind grave - to the spring".
Xuan Mai has been writing and printing poetry for 35 years. She wrote many songs to offer to Binh Dinh, her hometown. Reading poems that express her pride in her homeland, especially songs about the Kon River such as "Mother's River", "Thanh Thien Chanh", "Alcohol needs"... I thought happily, I was like traveling for free through the land of Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh, to visit Quang Trung Nguyen Hue's homeland...
Many of Xuan Mai's poems were arranged by musicians, such as: "The words of the mountain mound", "The river, whenever I whisper", "The sacred milestones"...
Poetry becomes a song, so it is easier and faster to reach readers.
35 years ago, when Xuan Mai published her first collection of poems "Golden Sand Seed", poet Y Nhi commented: "The gentleness of the soul can be considered the main feature of Xuan Mai's poetry... Xuan Mai has the power to attract readers with her gentleness and kindness".
A worthy comment. Among Xuan Mai's love poems, I picked up two very gentle, passionate poems, expressing the sincere wish/simply worry that perhaps any woman can have, like the poem "Khong thit III":
... "I'm not afraid you're sick
Scalp medicine from your hands
The disease will pass
The blue sky is peaceful again
I am only afraid of everyday scratches
An invisible thread
Tighten him down
I will forever lose you...
