On the 4th day of Tet, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong (Hamlet 13, Vinh Hau Commune, Hoa Binh District, Bac Lieu Province) packed her bags and headed back to Ho Chi Minh City to officially return to work on Monday (the 6th day of Tet).
After working as a factory worker for 3 years, the salary was not much but enough to live on. This year, after returning home for Tet for a few days, Ms. Hong left to start making a living again.
The leader of Vinh Hau commune (Hoa Binh district, Bac Lieu province) said that out of over 300 young people of working age in hamlet 13, 2/3 of them have gone to Dong Nai, Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City to work as factory workers.

Most of the young people who go to work as factory workers come from families with little land for production. However, there are many cases where the family is well-off but they themselves want to find a stable job. Instead of trying their hand at risky economic models, they choose the safe solution of working as factory workers.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hung (Hong Dan district, Bac Lieu) has been a worker in Binh Duong for 7 years. He initially planned to work for 5 years and then return home, but he did not know what to do after returning home, so this year he continued to go to Binh Duong. He said: "I have seniority, my monthly salary is more than 15 million VND, so I live well."
In 2024, Bac Lieu province will create jobs for over 38,000 workers, reaching 100%. This number is impressive, however, it will create jobs “outside the province” for over 22,000 workers. That is, people of working age will leave Bac Lieu to work in the Eastern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.

On average, every year, Bac Lieu has over 20,000 people leaving their hometown to find work in big cities. In many rural areas, there are not many young people of working age left in the locality. They leave more and more each year, because that is where income, salary, and life are guaranteed.
Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu has repeatedly confided to young people: It is heartbreaking for young people to have no jobs in their hometowns and have to leave their hometowns. Leaders know, but can do nothing, because Bac Lieu does not have many factories, industry is not yet developed, and recruitment demand is not high. The province calls for investment, especially in industries and occupations that require a lot of labor, but businesses also have their own calculations before deciding to invest.
Job opportunities and income in big cities have attracted young people in Bac Lieu for many years. It will be difficult to change in the next few years. Therefore, training skilled workers to provide quality labor for big cities is a must.
