On April 29, at the Hall of the Provincial Trade Union Workers' Counseling and Support Center, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Labor Federation solemnly organized the Ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2026); commending typical enterprises for workers; commending outstanding grassroots Trade Union Presidents in collective dialogue and negotiation work; honoring outstanding typical workers in 2026.
Attending the ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Ninh province; leaders of socio-political organizations of the province; Mr. Thach Van Chung - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Provincial Party Committee Member, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation; leaders of the Provincial Labor Federation and a large number of trade union officials, union members, workers, and representatives of typical enterprises in the province.
In his commemorative speech, Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial Labor Federation Thach Van Chung emphasized the great historical significance of International Labor Day May 1 - a symbol of solidarity and struggle for the legitimate rights of the working class and laborers worldwide. Mr. Thach Van Chung affirmed that, over 140 years, the immortal spirit of International Labor Day continues to guide and inspire the Vietnamese working class in general and the Bac Ninh working class in particular to constantly grow stronger, promoting their pioneering role in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.
Promoting that tradition, in recent years, the worker movement and trade union activities of Bac Ninh province have achieved many outstanding results. With more than 631,000 union members and workers, the Provincial Trade Union organization has constantly innovated the content and methods of operation; especially focusing on caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers through dialogue and collective negotiation activities, improving welfare and living standards for workers.
At the ceremony, the Provincial Labor Federation commended and rewarded: 18 collectives and 56 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; 50 typical enterprises for workers; 50 outstanding grassroots Trade Union Chairmen in collective dialogue and negotiation; 90 outstanding typical workers in labor production in 2026;
Here, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Labor Federation organized the presentation of gifts from Party and State leaders to 100 workers in difficult circumstances; and the presentation of support from the Provincial Labor Federation to 140 workers in difficult circumstances.
Speaking to direct at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha acknowledged and praised the great contributions of the working class and the Provincial Trade Union organization to the socio-economic development of Bac Ninh; and at the same time requested trade union levels to continue to innovate more strongly, strongly focusing on grassroots levels, taking union members and workers as the center; improve the effectiveness of caring for and protecting workers' rights; promote digital transformation, online propaganda; develop union members, build a modern and strong working class, meeting development requirements in the new period.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day is not only an opportunity to review the glorious traditions of the international and Vietnamese working class, but also an opportunity to encourage and strongly ignite the spirit of emulation for good labor and creative labor in the team of workers throughout the province; contributing to building Bac Ninh province to become increasingly rich, strong, civilized, modern, and firmly become a centrally-run city before 2030.
On the occasion of Workers' Month 2026, Bac Ninh has 4 typical grassroots trade union presidents honored by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor at the national commendation program for their outstanding achievements in representing, caring for, and protecting workers' rights, especially in dialogue and collective bargaining at enterprises.
This is a great pride of the Bac Ninh Provincial Trade Union organization, and at the same time affirms the position, bravery, intelligence and sense of responsibility of the team of grassroots trade union officials in the new era. This achievement continues to widely spread the image of Bac Ninh trade union officials who are dedicated and creative, contributing to building harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations, for the sustainable development of businesses and an increasingly better life for union members and workers.
