In 2024, regarding the care and protection of workers' rights, the Can Tho City Labor Federation said that 3,350 people received gifts from the city's labor union's care activities with a total amount of over 3.6 billion VND. In addition, all levels of labor unions coordinated with professionals and business leaders to organize practical activities to care for workers and employees on the occasion of the Lunar New Year with a total amount of 32.5 billion VND.
Provided consultation for 2,565 cases on labor contracts, unilateral termination of labor activities, social insurance regimes, etc.
Regarding the Workers' Month activities associated with the Labor Safety and Hygiene Month, support was given to build 15 Trade Union Shelters, 200 gifts for workers and employees who suffered serious work accidents, and scholarships for children of workers in difficult circumstances, with a total amount of 861 million VND.
At the “Red Union Member” festival, 30 gifts were presented to employees in difficult circumstances, 1,000 gifts were presented to employees who donated blood, with a total value of over 200 million VND. In addition, the Oncology Hospital organized a program to provide consultation and early cancer screening for 500 union members and employees.
In 2024, Can Tho City Labor Federation considered awarding 11 emulation flags, 122 collective certificates of merit and 342 individuals. Proposing the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to award 4 flags, 14 collective certificates of merit and 43 individuals.
Trade unions at all levels have attached 39 emulation projects with a total cost of over 7.2 billion VND from state and socialized funds. In addition, the City Labor Federation attached 3 emulation projects on rural traffic routes with a total cost of over 18 billion VND from state and socialized funds.
Social activities and union member welfare programs, all levels of the union mobilized contributions to the Golden Heart Fund of Can Tho Union, which raised over 2,629,416 billion VND, spent on supporting the construction and repair of union shelters, providing financial support for union members with serious illnesses, giving Tet gifts to union members and employees, and birthday gifts to employees, totaling 2,357 billion VND.
Unions at all levels organized revolving mutual support funds to purchase household appliances with a total amount of over 1.255 billion VND. Affiliated grassroots unions organized trips to the source, sightseeing and vacations for union members with a budget of over 200 million VND. Organized birthday celebrations for union members, visited and gave gifts to 2,786 union members and workers with difficult circumstances with a total amount of 1.047 billion VND.
Regarding organizational work, from the beginning of the year until now, 10,291 new union members have been developed, of which the number of union members increased by 9,016/8,500 union members, reaching 106.7%, currently, there are 92,603 union members, 31 grassroots unions were established, bringing the total to date: 1,168 grassroots unions, 10/3 unions were established, reaching the target of 333%, bringing the total to date to 57 unions. 1,238/1,193 outstanding union members were introduced to the Party for consideration of admission, reaching 103.77%, 781 outstanding union members were admitted to the Party.
Speaking at the Conference, Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - President of Can Tho City Labor Federation emphasized that it is necessary to organize well the activities to take care of union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025 according to the policies and plans of the General Confederation and the City Labor Federation to ensure practicality, effectiveness, and bring many benefits to union members and workers.
Regularly grasp the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of union members and workers, especially before, during and after Tet; grasp the situation of labor relations, employment, wages, Tet bonuses, and promptly handle developments arising among workers and laborers.
The Chairman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation suggested that all levels of unions, especially those in localities with many industrial parks, export processing zones, and a large number of workers, strengthen coordination with functional agencies to regularly monitor, advise, and resolve arising issues, ensuring worker security, avoiding being passive or surprised.
