Many businesses are in trouble
On January 13, the Gia Lai Economic Zone Trade Union informed about activities to care for workers during the Lunar New Year, and at the same time called on workers to accompany businesses and join hands to overcome difficulties.
According to the assessment of the Provincial Economic Zone Trade Union, in 2024, a number of businesses will operate effectively, helping the lives, jobs and income of union members and workers to stabilize and gradually improve.
Enterprises such as Louis Dreyfus Company Vietnam Trading and Processing Limited Company, Nutifood Cao Nguyen Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company, Cao Nguyen Beef - Dairy Cattle Breeding Joint Stock Company, TTC Attapeu Sugarcane Limited Company... all achieved business efficiency, employing thousands of workers, contributing to job creation and improving the lives of workers in the area.
However, many businesses, especially small and medium enterprises in Tra Da Industrial Park, still face many difficulties.
The main reasons are slow capital turnover, high operating costs, while net profits remain low. Enterprises producing and exploiting granite and wood products are facing major challenges in product output, limited consumption markets and lack of orders, leading to stagnant production and low efficiency.
As a result, the lives and incomes of a significant number of union members and workers are affected.
Giving gifts and bus tickets home for Tet to poor workers
Faced with common difficulties, the Provincial Economic Zone Trade Union directed the Executive Committee of the grassroots trade union to promote solidarity, encourage union members and workers to work with peace of mind, and stand side by side with businesses.
In 2024, the Provincial Economic Zone Trade Union organized a communication dialogue program, providing advice on social insurance policies for 254 union members and workers; presented 20 gifts to 20 union members in difficult circumstances and with serious illnesses.
Grassroots trade unions (under the Economic Zone Trade Union) coordinated with enterprises to visit and provide timely support to 339 union members and workers in difficult circumstances with a total amount of 275.5 million VND.
The provincial grassroots trade union mobilized to support people affected by storm No. 3 with a total amount of 241.3 million VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh - Chairman of the Provincial Economic Zone Trade Union emphasized: "In 2025, the unit will continue to care for and protect the legal and legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers. The unit also mobilizes businesses in Tra Da Industrial Park to support funding and register to give gifts to workers."
The unit also selected 155 union members and workers with serious illnesses and work-related accidents for the union at all levels to give gifts and support for Tet; selected 12 bus tickets for workers to participate in the charity bus trip to their hometowns to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025.
