South Korean investigators have asked President Yoon Suk Yeol to continue questioning at 10 a.m. on January 17, local time, about the martial law order he declared on December 3, 2024.
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has been held in a detention center since the night of January 15 after investigators arrested him at his residence and took him to the Corruption Investigation Office for Senior Officials (CIO) for more than 10 hours of questioning.
On January 16, President Yoon Suk Yeol refused to accept further questioning. His lawyer cited his client's health as the reason for refusing questioning.
President Yoon Suk Yeol filed a petition asking the Seoul Central District Court to review the legality of his arrest warrant, but the court rejected the petition on the evening of January 16 and allowed investigators to continue detaining him.
The Office of the High-Level Corruption Investigation Bureau plans to file a formal arrest warrant application for President Yoon Suk Yeol before the 48-hour deadline expires on the night of January 17.
