That was the guiding statement of Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh at the working session between the Working Group of the Standing Committee of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and leaders of Gia Lai province on work. Developing union members, establishing a grassroots Trade Union on the morning of August 21 in Pleiku city.
At the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Vice President of the Gia Lai Provincial Labor Confederation said that the results of developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions and grassroots trade unions in the first 7 months of 2024 in the area have positive step forward.
The total number of newly developed union members is 1,793, reaching 58.8% of the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
The total number of workers, officials and laborers in the whole province is 56,858 people. Currently, wages, income, and workers' lives are being paid attention to and improving.
The average income of workers is about 7 million VND/person/month. Of which, the state-owned enterprise sector is nearly 8 million VND/person/month; Enterprises with foreign investment capital of more than 10.5 million VND/person/month; non-state enterprises more than 6.5 million VND/person/month.
However, it is forecasted that the lives, jobs and income of workers in the coming time will continue to be affected when many businesses withdraw from the market.
The number of small and micro enterprises in Gia Lai is 2,139 enterprises, accounting for 85% of the total number of enterprises paying Social Insurance in the province.
According to Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh, Gia Lai province has a small number of workers compared to the whole country but has basically established grassroots trade union organizations.
With the province's innovation and dynamism, in the coming time there will be many businesses coming to the area to invest, build, and attract the workforce. Trade Unions at all levels in Gia Lai will develop and expand to establish new grassroots Trade Unions.
In previous years, the Gia Lai Provincial Labor Confederation basically completed this target. However, in the long term, there needs to be specific direction and solutions.
“We discussed to find a solution to attract workers to the trade union. Trade unions must be conscious of innovation and take the best care of workers so that they can attract workers to join the trade union voluntarily" - Mr. Phan Van Anh emphasized.
