On November 18, the Steering Committee for the implementation of social insurance and health insurance policies in Hai Duong province met to evaluate the results of the implementation of social insurance and health insurance policies in the province in 2024.
According to the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Social Insurance policy, the total number of social insurance participants in the province as of the end of October 2024 was 447,596 people, an increase of 7,592 people compared to December 2023. The number of social insurance participants reached about 53% of the working-age population.
The total amount of social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance debt is 160 billion VND, equivalent to 1.6% of receivables.
Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province - emphasized that currently, 47% of people of working age in Hai Duong province have not participated in social insurance, so the legal rights of many workers have not been guaranteed. Meanwhile, the rate of social insurance withdrawal tends to increase, requiring the development of a plan and roadmap for appropriate and effective social insurance and health insurance.
Mr. Hung requested the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Department of Planning and Investment, and the Tax Department of Hai Duong province to coordinate with the provincial Social Insurance to implement measures to collect social insurance arrears for units with arrears in the province, and transfer them to the police to handle units with long-term arrears and delay in paying social insurance according to the law.
At the same time, agencies and units need to improve the quality of service in implementing social insurance and health insurance policies. Implement well the action program on health insurance and social insurance policies, focusing on inspection, examination, and prevention of fraud and profiteering from the Social Insurance Fund.
