On July 17, Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang - Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation - said that immediately after its establishment, the unit had developed a program and plan for trade union activities for the last 6 months of 2025 and the following years.
According to Mr. Hoang, reviewing and grasping the situation of grassroots trade unions, union members and workers is an important basis to determine a suitable direction after the merger of the new Lam Dong province.
Currently, the whole province has 124 communes, wards and special zones with 1,007 grassroots unions, grassroots unions, and more than 92,000 union members.
Both in the short term and in the long term, Lam Dong has identified attracting workers in the informal sector and freelance workers to trade unions as an important task, because the labor force in this area is quite large but many places do not have grassroots trade unions.
Through union activities to protect rights, ensure income, stabilize workers' lives, and contribute to maintaining social security, Mr. Hoang emphasized.
Currently, the province has established a number of grassroots unions in industries with a large concentration of workers such as motorbike taxi unions, mechanical and ship repair unions, loading and unloading unions, durian growing unions, grassroots unions for press cooperation, etc.
In particular, Lam Dong has established the Da Lat Technology Vehicle Drivers' Union with more than 150 union members; at the same time, maintaining the activities of 5 fishing unions with 548 union members on 55 offshore fishing vessels.
"There are still many difficulties, especially in terms of finance, but we are always ready to accompany workers in this area," Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang affirmed.
