Not providing widespread support, the Ward Trade Union proactively coordinated with the government and mass organizations in residential areas to conduct actual surveys in residential groups in the old Ban Phiet commune.
Thereby correctly identifying households with forestry land but lacking capital and production techniques - a "bottleneck" hindering the poverty escape process.
From that reality, the "Connecting Love - Giving Livelihoods, Startup Capital" model is built with a clear approach, giving livelihoods instead of short-term support.
Forest planting seedlings are chosen as an initial "start-up capital" source, suitable for natural conditions and long-term development potential.
A noteworthy point is that Lao Cai Ward Trade Union does not stand in a simple support role, but directly acts as a focal point for connection.
From mobilizing grassroots trade unions to participate in supporting funds and materials, to coordinating with specialized units to organize technical guidance on planting, caring for and protecting forests - all are implemented synchronously, with close coordination.
Also at the program, 50 beehives of support were awarded to 10 poor households, creating livelihoods to escape poverty on the spot.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dang Nguyen Hoan - Chairman of Lao Cai Ward Trade Union - said that the goal of the model is to create a sustainable livelihood foundation, helping people proactively develop the economy.
The Trade Union determines not to do it in a one-time support style. Once you start doing it, you must accompany people, from seedlings to techniques, from the planting process to when there are results. Only when people have stable incomes will the support be truly meaningful," Mr. Hoan emphasized.
According to Mr. Hoan, in the process of implementation, the Lao Cai Ward Trade Union plays a core role in coordinating and ensuring support for the right people and the right needs.
At the same time, the trade union organization also promotes collective strength, mobilizing union members to participate in supporting working days when necessary, creating cohesion in the community.
Not stopping at providing initial support, monitoring and supervision work continues to be maintained. The Ward Trade Union regularly grasps the situation, promptly removes arising difficulties, ensuring a substantive operating model, avoiding formality.
