On the morning of April 25, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation coordinated with the Department of Home Affairs to organize a ceremony to celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day and launch Workers' Month, Action Month for Occupational Safety and Health in 2026.
Attending the program were Ms. Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with representatives of departments, agencies, branches, socio-political organizations and more than 400 workers, civil servants, and laborers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Kha Van Tam - Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation emphasized that International Labor Day May 1 is a global symbol of solidarity and struggle for the legitimate rights and interests of workers.
From the historic struggle in Chicago (USA) in 1886 with the demands of "8 hours of work – 8 hours of rest – 8 hours of fun", the workers' movement spread widely, creating the foundation for many important social advances.

In Vietnam, under the leadership of the Party, the working class has always played a pioneering role through revolutionary periods. From the struggle for independence to the period of renovation and integration, the working class has continuously grown stronger, directly contributing to economic growth and social stability.
In Nghe An alone, the tradition of workers associated with historical movements such as Truong Thi - Ben Thuy continues to be inherited and promoted. In recent years, the team of workers, civil servants, and laborers of the province has developed both in quantity and quality, playing a core role in production, especially in industrial parks.
In 2025, Nghe An's economy achieved GRDP growth of about 8.44%, higher than the national average; export turnover reached about 4.52 billion USD, and budget revenue was more than 29,000 billion VND. This result clearly reflects the contribution of the labor force throughout the province.

Stepping into 2026, Q1 growth continues to maintain positive momentum, showing that the economy is shifting towards sustainability, based on productivity and technology application. In this process, workers are not only a productive force but also creative subjects, contributing many initiatives and technical improvements that bring practical efficiency.
However, the labor force is still facing many challenges such as job pressure, income, increasing demands for skills, risks of labor insecurity and impacts from global economic fluctuations. This requires levels and sectors to innovate their approach to caring for and protecting workers' rights.
In 2026, Workers' Month is implemented with the theme "Vietnamese Workers: Innovation, Improving Labor Productivity", associated with the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health with the message "Proactive Prevention - Protecting Workers in the Digital Age".

On this occasion, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation supported the construction and repair of 20 "Trade Union Solidarity Houses" for workers in difficult circumstances with a total budget of 850 million VND; and presented gifts to 54 union members who suffered labor accidents or were in special circumstances, each gift worth 1 million VND.
The People's Committee of Nghe An province has also rewarded 40 workers with outstanding achievements in labor production in 2025.
