On June 24, the Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation held a ceremony to announce the decision to admit union members and establish grassroots trade unions (CĐCS) at 2 non-state-owned enterprises participating in the Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant Project.
At the ceremony, the unit announced the decision to admit 206 union members and establish a grassroots trade union at Korea Electric Power Industrial Development Co., Ltd and the MC-HDEC-CC1 Joint Venture.
In which, the grassroots trade union of Korea Electric Power Industrial Development Co., Ltd has 70 union members. This is the unit responsible for the main trial operation of the project. Over the past time, the enterprise has paid attention to caring for the lives of workers, fully implementing regimes on social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance and the legitimate rights of workers.
The MC-HDEC-CC1 consortium has 136 union members. The units include Mitsubishi Corporation (Japan), Hyundai Engineering and Construction Group (Korea) and Construction Corporation No. 1 (Vietnam). The consortium undertakes the entire work chain from technical design, equipment supply, construction and installation to trial operation and factory handover.
The establishment of grassroots trade unions contributes to expanding trade union organizations in the non-state business sector, improving the effectiveness of caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phan Thanh Lan, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation, requested grassroots trade unions after consolidating their organizations to proactively coordinate with business leaders to launch labor production emulation movements, improve productivity and work efficiency. At the same time, units need to focus on taking care of the lives of union members and workers. Ensure the full implementation of regimes and policies on employment, wages, income and rights according to the provisions of law.
