Labor relations are maintained harmoniously, stably, and progressively
On the afternoon of June 19, in Ho Chi Minh City, the emulation cluster of the City Labor Federations organized a conference to summarize the CNVCLĐ movement and trade union activities in the first 6 months of the year, deploying directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2026.
Attending the conference were Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Anh Tuan; Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Tong Van Bang and trade union officials from 6 cities: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hue, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho.

The report of the emulation cluster said that currently the above 6 cities have 35,728 grassroots trade unions with nearly 4.2 million union members. In the first 6 months of 2026, the labor relations situation in 6 cities was generally maintained harmoniously, stably, and progressively. Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho cities did not record strikes or collective work stoppages; Hai Phong City recorded 1 collective work stoppage with about 200 workers, which was promptly resolved by the trade union in coordination with functional agencies and businesses.
To date, the whole cluster has more than 20,000 collective labor agreements (CLAs) in effect. In the first 6 months of the year, 2,640 new CLAs were signed with many clauses beneficial to employees. Legal advice and legal aid continued to be promoted, in the first 6 months of the year, 22,621 union members and employees were consulted and legally assisted, and 186 cases were represented by trade unions to participate in legal proceedings at the Court.
Caring for union members and workers continues to be a key task, implemented on a large scale, in many new, practical and timely forms. Especially during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year, over 3.5 million union members were supported with more than 4,500 billion VND.
In the first 6 months of the year, the city's Labor Federations have newly established 1,030 grassroots trade unions, developing 144,600 union members.
However, due to the large management area, the large number of grassroots trade unions and union members, while the payroll of full-time trade union officials is still limited. The work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions in non-state enterprises, informal labor, small and micro enterprises still faces difficulties due to the dispersion of labor and the level of cooperation of some business owners is not high...
Many good models, good ways to meet practical requirements
At the conference, representatives of the Labor Federations of cities also shared experiences on developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions, caring for union members and workers, building houses for workers to rent and lease-purchase, launching labor emulation movements, digital transformation in trade union activities, as well as some difficulties and obstacles in trade union activities today...

Speaking to direct at the conference, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Anh Tuan praised the achievements that the City Labor Federations have achieved.
Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Anh Tuan commented that in the first 6 months of the year, despite many difficulties and obstacles, the Labor Federations of cities still maintained the operation of the system, did not let operations break down and had many good models and good ways to meet practical requirements, ensuring trade union activities are always close to union members and workers.
Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Nguyen Anh Tuan requested the Labor Federations of cities to quickly implement the Resolution of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress to grassroots levels, closely follow the tasks of each unit, well implement the goals set out in the last 6 months of the year, ensure successful completion of the tasks of 2026 and well perform the work of representing, protecting, and caring for union members and workers.
In the last 6 months of 2026, the Labor Federations of cities will focus on performing well the function of representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers; strengthen dialogue, negotiation, signing and improve the quality of collective labor agreements; continue to launch patriotic emulation movements, focusing on the movement "Good labor, high productivity, good income"; continue to promote activities to care for and benefit union members, especially union members and workers in difficult circumstances, with dangerous diseases, labor accidents, job loss, and reduced income; pay attention to social housing, boarding houses, kindergartens, health care, meals, cultural facilities for workers; prepare early activities to care for the 2027 Lunar New Year...
