Accordingly, on March 6, thousands of workers at Akalia Vietnam Shoes Co., Ltd. (located in Hai Xuan village, Hai Long commune, Nhu Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province) stopped working collectively to demand a salary increase and support for overtime meals.

According to the workers, in many cases, even though they have worked at the company for many years, their salary has not been increased.
In addition, the company used to have money for shift meals, but now it has been cut. There are people who have worked for the company for 5 years but their salaries are still lower than some new employees.
According to the representative of the Hai Long Commune People's Committee, workers started to stop working from early noon the same day. After learning about the incident, the locality went to the company to coordinate with the authorities to ensure order and resolve the incident.

The representative of the Nhu Thanh District Labor Federation said that immediately after the incident, the unit was present at the company to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the workers. Along with that, the unit worked with the leaders of Akalia Vietnam Shoes Co., Ltd. and local authorities to propose a solution.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, in recent days, in some districts of Thanh Hoa province, there have been consecutive incidents of workers stopping work collectively to demand salary increases.
Typically, on March 1, thousands of workers of Roll Sport Shoes Company Limited (in Tay Ho commune, Tho Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province) stopped working collectively to demand a salary increase.
On March 3, more than 2,000 workers of Adiana Vietnam Shoes Co., Ltd. (in Xuan Phu commune, Tho Xuan district) also stopped working collectively.
Then, on March 4, hundreds of workers at Hiep Thang Shoes Company Limited (in Vinh Hung Commune, Vinh Loc District) and more than 2,000 workers at TMVT Production Company Limited (in Ngoc Lac District) also stopped working collectively to demand a salary increase.
According to the representative of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor, after receiving information about the collective work stoppages, the unit sent a working group to coordinate with the local Federations of Labor where the incidents occurred, grasp the concerns of workers and work with the enterprise.
