On February 26, Hue City Labor Federation said that the Trade Union and Youth Union of Hue Central Hospital coordinated with the Blood Transfusion Hematology Center of the hospital to organize the voluntary blood donation program "White Blouse - Pink Heart", attracting nearly 400 officials, employees, and doctors to participate.
According to the Blood Transfusion Hematology Center, the beginning of the year often experiences blood shortages due to university students taking Tet holidays, and many agencies and units have not resumed blood donation after a long holiday. Meanwhile, the demand for blood and platelets for emergency and treatment at hospitals in Hue and the Central region is always high.
On average, medical facilities need about 200 units of blood and 25 units of platelets per day to meet sufficient treatment needs. Blood pressure is therefore increasing in the first months of the year.
At the program, the center received 330 units of blood, including 322 units of total blood and 8 units of platelets donated by the hospital's own doctors. Blood donation activities continued to be implemented in the afternoon.
The "White Blouse - Pink Heart" festival not only contributes to supplementing blood reserves but also spreads a message of compassion in the community. In recent years, the movement "One drop of blood given, one life left behind" at Hue Central Hospital has always been actively responded to by officials and trade union members.
As people directly caring for and treating patients, the medical team understands the value of each unit of blood in fighting for the lives of patients. Many medical staff have become typical examples with impressive blood donations such as 52 times, 41 times, 40 times.
Recognizing those contributions, the collective and individuals of the hospital were awarded many certificates of merit by the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the People's Committee of Hue City. In particular, the collective of Hue Central Hospital was honored to receive Certificates of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society for 3 consecutive years (2023-2025) for excellently completing voluntary blood donation work.
