On this occasion, the film crew released a series of behind-the-scenes images and information related to the process of creating Ong Ta Temple - an important spiritual setting throughout the work.
According to the crew, Ong Ta Temple in the film is built based on the inspiration from the Southern folk legend about Co Nam Hoi. This is also where the character Khai played by Vo Tan Phat discovers secrets related to Mrs. Ba Thu's family and Chi's dark past played by Tran Ngoc Vang.
Design director Ngo Quoc Truong said that the crew accidentally discovered a deserted temple while surveying the setting in the rocky mountain area. From there, the film crew decided to develop it into Ong Ta Temple imbued with Khmer cultural colors. To complete the setting, the crew had to recreate many details such as stalactites, worship statues and carved patterns to create the most authentic feeling for both actors and audiences.
Producer Ho Xuan Phu revealed that the process of finding a suitable location encountered many difficulties because the location of the temple is on the mountainside, the road is dangerous and easy to get lost. Meanwhile, Meritorious Artist Oc Thanh Van assessed that Ong Ta Temple is one of the most important settings in the film when many climactic scenes take place here.
In addition to the setting, the image of the character Thach Thi Sa played by actress Nhat Y also attracted attention because of her rotten, haunting appearance. According to makeup expert Bow Tran, the crew spent about 3 weeks completing a special mask with nearly 100 layers of different colors. Each makeup, the actress needs 3 to 4 people to support because the mask is too stiff and has many details.
Director Luu Thanh Luan said that the crew continues to use VFX techniques to increase the authenticity of the characters, helping the image on screen become more vivid instead of just a mask.
