Director and producer Minh Beta attended the Lumière Summit in Saint-Paul-de-Vence on September 7 and 8.
Accordingly, Minh Beta recognizes that the Vietnamese film market is showing remarkable movements.
In recent years, Vietnamese cinema has made significant progress, both in terms of market size and attraction to audiences. I expect these positive movements to continue to open up opportunities for Vietnam to strengthen connectivity and participate more deeply in the international film ecosystem in the coming time," Minh Beta shared.
The director's assessment of "Mui pho" is given in the context of Vietnamese cinema in recent years witnessing many changes in box office scale, production methods and audience tastes.
Not only are high-grossing films appearing more often, but the gap between works at the box office is also increasing. Audiences have more choices, while Vietnamese films must compete directly with international works and forms of entertainment on online platforms.
The development of AI is also putting the film industry in front of new questions. This technology has begun to be tested by Vietnamese filmmakers in the production and post-production process, from creating images to supporting processing stages that previously required a lot of manpower.
Meanwhile, the change in audience appreciation habits makes the problem of attracting viewers to theaters no longer only depend on the number of films produced. The quality of content, cinema experience and how a film approaches the public are increasingly playing a decisive role.

Minh Beta is currently active in many roles in the film industry, from production, distribution to cinema operations. In 2026, he will take on the role of film director for the first time with "Mui pho".
From the perspective of someone directly involved in many stages in the market, Minh Beta believes that international connections can create opportunities for Vietnamese cinema to access more experience, technology and new development models.
According to him, the further goal is to make the Vietnamese market not only grow in scale but also have the ability to participate more deeply in the international film ecosystem.
