The award is recognition for the comprehensive standardization of the emergency and stroke treatment system at Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital, from patient reception, diagnostic imaging, multi-specialized consultation to blood vessel recirculation during the "golden hour".
Speaking at the ceremony to receive the World Stroke Gold Award on the afternoon of April 24, MSc. Dr. Pham Thanh Vu - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital - said that stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability. In stroke emergency care, the time determines the patient's ability to survive and recover.

According to Dr. Vu, building an effective stroke treatment system right in the locality is of particular importance to people in the Mekong Delta region, where the long route distance may lose optimal treatment opportunities.
Assessing the hospital's achievements, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Thang - Vice President of the Vietnam Stroke Association, Expert Member of the Global Steering Committee of the Angels Program - said that the Gold Award is proof of a scientific, disciplined and humane operating system. This achievement contributes to bringing the hospital's name to the stroke treatment map of Vietnam and the world.
Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital has treated about 190 stroke cases during prime time, with a success rate of nearly 80%. Among them, endovascular intervention accounts for about 20%, showing the ability to deploy specialized techniques right in the locality.

The hospital also invests in many modern equipment such as MRI 3 Tesla, CT 128-160 slices, DSA digital background scanning machines, and also applies artificial intelligence (AI) in diagnostic imaging to shorten the time to assess brain damage, supporting doctors to make treatment decisions faster and more accurately.
Stroke patients have millions of brain cells damaged every minute. Therefore, the time from the time of admission to the time of injection of Dore-to-Needle is less than or equal to 60 minutes, which is a key factor determining the effectiveness of treatment.
At the program, doctors also updated the trend of stroke treatment in 2026, focusing on early identification, optimal emergency procedures, individualization of treatment strategies and improving the efficiency of stroke unit organization.
