HCMC - A resident in Xuan Thoi Son commune has caught a precious bird suspected of being Hong Hoang weighing nearly 3 kg and handed it over to the forest rangers.

On December 24, Mr. Pham Van Tinh, 43 years old, living in Hamlet 4, Xuan Thoi Son Commune, said he had just caught a largeagedagedagedagedagedagedagedagedaged bird, suspected to be a rare Hong Hoang species.

The incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. the same day when Mr. Tinh was standing in front of his house on Xuan Thoi Son 36 Street, a turn from Nguyen Van Bua Street. At this time, he discovered a large bird flying from the field and landed in a low tree in the garden, about 100 m from where he was standing.

Realizing that the bird had a strange shape with a long and very large chin, Mr. Tinh proactively approached and successfully arrested this individual. Through preliminary measurements on the spot, the bird weighed nearly 3 kg.

Notably, this is the second Red Red-crowned bird to appear in this area in just two days. According to Mr. Tinh, on December 23, a neighbor named Tu living about 500 meters from his house had also caught a bird in the same shape.

Currently, the precious bird's condition is still stable, eating normally and can move around in cages. Realizing that this is a rare wild animal that needs to be protected, Mr. Tinh quickly reported the incident to Xuan Thoi Son Commune Police to find a suitable handling plan.

After receiving the report, the police force instructed Mr. Tinh to contact the Forest Protection Department directly to hand over the report. Because the time of discovery and reporting was in the evening, the Forest Protection agency has requested the family to temporarily care for and carefully preserve the animals so that the unit can go down to receive them officially tomorrow morning.

Mr. Tinh shared that because he saw the beautiful and strange bird, knowing it was rare, he only wanted to give it to the authorities to release it back to the natural environment, but did not intend to keep it for himself.
