This marks the first time Vietnam has organized an intellectual tournament with a history of more than three decades. The event gathered nearly 300 super memory athletes from about 30 countries and territories.
Founded in 1991, WMC is considered the most prestigious tournament in the field of memory and brain capacity training, with competition content requiring high speed, accuracy and nerve endurance such as digital memory, abstract images, randomization or listening - remembering long-term series of numbers.
Vietnam's choice as the host country in 2025 shows the increasingly clear role of the country in the global mind sports movement.
A notable new point at WMC 2025 is the first application of the real-time competition and digital scoring system. Instead of manual scoring like previous sessions, the results of each content are continuously updated on the screen, allowing for direct monitoring of athletes' ranking changes. The organizers said this is a step to increase transparency, reduce errors and improve the viewing experience of the audience.

Also at this tournament, WMC officially introduced a new rotating cup for the world champion. The trophy is designed with the meaning of preserving the mark of the champions over the years, reflecting the spirit of inheritance and connection of the international super-memory community. This is the first time the tournament has had a consistent winning symbol between periods.
According to the schedule, athletes will compete for many days in Ho Chi Minh City before the closing ceremony and award ceremony taking place on the evening of December 14.
Experts say that with home advantage and early preparation, the Vietnamese team has the opportunity to make breakthroughs in some strengths.
WMC 2025 is not only an international intellectual sports event but is also expected to contribute to spreading the movement of practicing memory, thinking and learning ability in the community, especially among young people.
