On the morning of July 29, at De Nhat Hotel (HCMC), an extraordinary conference of the Executive Committee of Vovinam Vietnam Federation was held to consider Dr. Mai Huu Tin's resignation from the position of President of Vovinam Vietnam Federation, and at the same time, elect a new President of the Federation, ensuring the inheritance and sustainable development of the Vovinam movement domestically and internationally.
At the conference, delegates agreed that Mr. Mai Huu Tin resigned from the position of President of the Vovinam Vietnam Federation. Along with that, the delegates agreed to elect Martial Arts master Tran Van My - Vice President of Vovinam Vietnam Federation/Chief Manager of Vovinam Vietnam Vo Dao to take on the position of President of Vovinam Vietnam Federation for the fourth term (2023-2028), replacing Mr. Mai Huu Tin who has just resigned.
Speaking at the Conference, Dr. Mai Huu Tin said: In 2017, I accepted the invitation of Martial Arts Master Nguyen Van Chieu and Mr. Le Quoc An to take on the position of President of the Vovinam Vietnam Federation as sponsors and contacts with domestic and international authorities.
Now I resign from the position of President of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation to focus completely on my duties as President of the World Vovinam Federation with the goal of making Vietnamese martial arts more widely spread internationally towards the Olympics.
The election of martial artist Tran Van My as President of Vovinam Vietnam Federation is appropriate when the head of the sport will lead the Vovinam Vietnam Federation to have a voice of solidarity and operate domestic movement activities more strongly".
Meanwhile, in his acceptance speech as President of the Vovinam Vietnam Federation, martial artist Tran Van My expressed his deep gratitude to Dr. Mai Huu Tin for his great contributions to the strong development of Vovinam domestically and internationally.
He said: Over the past 8 years, since Dr. Mai Huu Tin held the position of President of the Vovinam Vietnam Federation, Vovinam's position domestically and internationally has been steadily raised to a new level.
The Vovinam movement grew stronger when Dr. Mai Huu Tin created solidarity among martial artists as well as the federation's executive committee.
In recent years, Dr. Mai Huu Tin has used his personal financial resources to finance domestic and international Vovinam activities, which are huge contributions.
Hopefully, focusing on the position of President of Vovinam World Federation will help Vovinam develop even more strongly".
