The first 6 Kings Slam event hosted by Saudi Arabia has received some attention from tennis fans. There are no prize points but the prize money is really valuable, with 6 players each receiving 1.5 million USD just for being present at the event.
And the "heat" level increased when the two semi-final pairs were a battle between the "old" side - including Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, and the young side - including Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
The results of the two semi-finals, it must be said, do not come as a surprise to anyone at this point.
Sinner won his second consecutive match against Djokovic in less than a week (before that was the Shanghai Masters final). Alcaraz also beat Nadal in a match that left quite a bit of a show.
Sinner will face Alcaraz in the final, but interestingly, the interest in this match could be overshadowed by the third-place play-off.
When Saudi Arabia throws money at a big event, they know how to keep the excitement going until the end. So instead of being eliminated and going home like ATP tournaments, the 6 Kings Slams had a third-place match.
And fans will witness the match between Djokovic and Nadal. This will be their last match, as well as the Big Three's, because Rafa will retire after the 2024 Davis Cup finals, where Serbia will not participate.
After the third-place match concludes, attention will naturally turn to the final, where Sinner and Alcaraz face off after missing out on the Shanghai Masters semi-finals when the Spaniard was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
