U17 Vietnam won the right to enter the final of U17 Southeast Asia 2026 after defeating U17 Australia with a score of 2-1 in the semi-final match on the evening of April 22.
This result helps coach Cristiano Roland and his team continue to maintain a stable series of matches and take another step towards regional titles.
The match started unfavorably for U17 Vietnam when the opponent soon scored the opening goal in the 10th minute. However, the red shirt team did not fall into a passive state but still maintained a disciplined playing style and persistently looked for opportunities.
That effort was concretized in the minutes of added time in the first half, when Dai Nhan brought home a penalty. Although the finish was unsuccessful, Manh Cuong took advantage of the ball bouncing out to head the ball to equalize 1-1.
After the break, U17 Vietnam played more proactively in controlling the ball and organizing attacks. The decisive goal came in the 60th minute from a set piece situation. Minh Thuy crossed the ball from the right wing, Hoang Viet handled it delicately for Nguyen Luc to finish in the penalty area, sealing a 2-1 victory for U17 Vietnam.
In the remaining semi-final, U17 Malaysia defeated U17 Laos with a score of 3-0. "The Malay tigers" took advantage of the advantage to decide the match, when the opponent lost a player quite early.
With this result, U17 Vietnam will rematch U17 Malaysia in the final taking place at 7:30 PM on April 24.
Meanwhile, the third-place match between U17 Laos and U17 Australia takes place at 3:30 PM on the same day.
