U20 Vietnam is facing an important match with U20 Palestine after both lost in the first match of Group C of the 2027 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The 0-3 defeat to U20 DPRK shows many problems in U20 Vietnam's playing style.
Although possessing players who have international competition experience such as Le Phat, Gia Bao, Quang Kiet..., coach Yutaka Ikeuchi's team has not created the necessary cohesion between the lines. The ability to compete is also a limitation when Vietnamese players are often inferior to opponents with advantages in physique and fitness.
On the other side, U20 Palestine is not considered too superior to Vietnam. The West Asian team has an advantage in physique but also reveals many gaps in the defense system.
In the 1-2 defeat to U20 Iran, the Palestinian defense repeatedly revealed the gap between positions. The midfield also encountered difficulties in disputes, while the attack has not shown the necessary sharpness.
With this balance, the confrontation between the two teams will be an opportunity for U20 Vietnam to seek their first points. Both Vietnam and Palestine need a victory to maintain hope of competing in Group C.
After a performance that did not meet the requirements in the opening match, U20 Vietnam needs to improve their ability to coordinate, compete and maintain the intensity of the match. This is also a match for coach Yutaka Ikeuchi and his team to prove their ability.
The match between U20 Vietnam and U20 Palestine takes place at 7:00 PM on September 3rd.
