Can Chu Phin village (Khau Vai commune, Tuyen Quang province) with more than 750 people, 100% of the people are H'Mong ethnic people. Regularly gathering to eat and drink, not caring about the education of their children.

While the economy of Can Chu Phin village was originally in the direction of "self-sufficiency", poverty has always haunted it, and security and order are also unstable. But now, Can Chu Phin has a new face thanks to the responsibility and determination of Party cell secretary Tho Mi Xa.

This Party cell secretary, born in 1989, went to each household, organized small meetings to directly exchange with people, pointing out the practicality of eliminating outdated customs and building a cultural lifestyle.

I myself am a party member and also a Party cell secretary, so first of all, I must be self-aware and exemplary. From family members to clan members who have funerals and weddings, I mobilize to abolish outdated customs and implement a civilized lifestyle. When I see "real people, real things", people in the village listen," Party cell secretary Tho Mi Xa confided.

After a period of persistent propaganda and exemplary leadership of Party Secretary Tho Mi Xa, up to now 100% of people in Can Chu Phin village have agreed to reduce the time for organizing funerals and weddings, and reduce the number of buffaloes and cows slaughtered in weddings and funerals. There is no longer a situation of high wedding demands and organizing many worship ceremonies throughout the year.

Mr. Tho Cha Mua, Can Chu Phin village, said that according to the old lifestyle, my family usually organizes 9 to 10 worship ceremonies a year, which is very costly and time-consuming.

Since being propagated and mobilized by Party Secretary Tho Mi Xa, until now, I only organize worshiping ceremonies 1 to 2 times a year on truly necessary occasions, thanks to which my family's life has also changed, with more time to do business," Mr. Mua said.

Together with compatriots to develop the economy

Can Chu Phin village used to have fragmented production, people's lives mainly relied on growing corn and upland rice, and income was precarious. However, changing people's perceptions is not easy.

Still determined to go ahead and set an example, in 2017, Mr. Tho Mi Xa decided to borrow 100 million VND from Agribank to repair the barn, buy 5 cows to fatten. Thanks to diligence and hard work, just over 1 year later, he sold 4 batches and earned nearly 150 million VND, the family had money to repair the house and children had conditions to go to school.

Not only developing the family economy, Mr. Tho Mi Xa also directly propagates and mobilizes nearly 70 households in the village to participate in raising cows from support under national target programs on sustainable poverty reduction.

At the same time, coordinate to deploy a breeding cow model for 8 households sponsored by Plan organization, directly guide livestock breeding techniques, how to build barns, and disease prevention for people. Thanks to that, many households in the village have had more livelihoods, gradually increasing income and improving their lives.
