The fight against corruption, waste and negativity must truly rely on the people

Behind each article is the brave commitment of journalists

On the evening of October 30, the 5th National Defense Press Award Ceremony, Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity, 2024 - 2025, took place in Hanoi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh - Politburo member, Prime Minister emphasized that the 5th National Press Award Ceremony on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity took place in an exciting atmosphere for the whole country to compete to achieve achievements to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party and the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2025).

This is an important event to recognize and honor outstanding press works in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity, contributing to building an increasingly clean and strong Party and political system.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his respectful greetings, warm greetings and best wishes to the leaders, former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, press agencies, journalists and all distinguished audiences and listeners.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh advised: "Embezzlement, waste and disease are the enemy of the people", which is an "internal invader".

In accordance with the advice of the People, our Party and State have focused on directing the drastic, synchronous, and strict implementation of the fight against "no concession" against corruption, waste, and negativity with the motto of no "no forbidden zones" and no "extreme rules" and achieved many very important, comprehensive results, which were widely supported and highly appreciated by the people and the international community.

Mr. Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged that the above results have the active contributions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, press agencies and the team of journalists.

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press is always a shock force on the front line of the fight against corruption, waste and negativity. In particular, the National Press Award on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television is a place to gather and honor the best works on this especially important frontline.

"Behind each article and report is a relentless creativity, a spirit of dedication, the courage, intelligence and brave commitment of journalists, so that the light of justice and truth is reflected, contributing to helping authorities investigate and handle many serious corruption, waste and negative cases and incidents; reclaiming thousands of billions of VND, hundreds of hectares of land for the State, and being supported by a large number of cadres, party members and people," said Mr. Pham Minh Chinh.

According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, after 5 seasons of organization, the National Press Award on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity has increasingly affirmed its position, prestige and strong influence. Promoting the success of previous seasons, this year's award continues to record many impressive " highlights" such as: Attracting the large participation of journalists and press agencies, with more than 1,100 works rich in genres and quality; The works all closely follow the policies and orientations of the Party and State, the direction of General Secretary To Lam and the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.

Along with that, the works are all highly topical, recording issues that arise from practice, reflecting the truth, "only faces, names", directly condemning individuals and groups with negative manifestations; many works reflect good people, good deeds, bravery in fighting against corruption, waste, negativity and have a high influence; at the same time, clearly demonstrating the supervisory and critical role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and the active participation of the people in preventing corruption, waste and negativity.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television for successfully organizing this very meaningful Press Award; at the same time, congratulated 44 authors and groups of authors with outstanding works honored at the Award Ceremony, thereby making an important contribution to the fight against corruption, waste and negativity of our Party, State and people.

Emphasizing that in the new era, the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity continues to be identified by our Party and State as a key task that is both urgent and long-term, an important premise to promote the rapid and sustainable development of the country, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that with the motto " proactively prevent and detect early and from afar, not let small violations accumulate into major violations", this persistent and persistent fight journey requires the participation of the entire political system and the entire people, including the important role of the press, journalists, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations; the participation and supervision of the people. All violations and crimes of corruption, waste and negativity, the people know, must truly rely on the people to achieve better results in this fierce fight.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that it is necessary to continue to strongly promote the main role of the press, build a team of journalists who are " steadfast, not retreating in the face of difficulties and challenges; alert to temptations; steadfast and persistent in political courage; enthusiasm, sharp in expertise; humanity in practice; determination, courage in fighting", pioneering, being exemplary, taking the lead, fighting uncompromisingly against corruption, waste, negativity with the spirit of "steel in pen - fire in the heart".

Along with that, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations continue to perform well the task of monitoring and social criticism, further promoting the role and strength of the people in detecting and combating corruption, waste and negativity; Party committees and authorities at all levels focus on thoroughly grasping and promptly implementing the policies and guidelines of the Party and State, strengthening coordination, creating all favorable conditions, accompanying and protecting the press, journalists and organizations and individuals who are brave in fighting against corruption, waste and negativity.

Promoting the important results achieved through 5 very successful seasons, the Prime Minister believes that the National Press Award on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity will continuously innovate, create strong influence, add motivation, inspire, create confidence for the team of journalists who are creative, talented, dedicated, and intellectual in the fight against corruption, wastefulness and negativity; contribute to building a professional, humane, and modern revolutionary press; build a rich, prosperous, civilized, and happy country in the new era.
