Participating in discussions at Group No. 1 within the framework of the IX National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, on June 7, Mr. Nguyen Van Trung - Chairman of the Gia Loc Commune Farmers' Union (Hai Phong), delegation of the Hai Phong City Farmers' Union - assessed that the reports submitted to the Congress were prepared meticulously and methodically, and proposed many specific solutions to successfully implement the goals and tasks of the 2026 - 2031 term.
In particular, he agreed with the breakthrough tasks identified in the draft, especially the contents on digital transformation, collective economic development, improving digital skills and developing agricultural enterprises.
From practical work at the grassroots level, Mr. Trung said that currently many farmers have produced quality products but have not yet mastered the market, data and agricultural value chains. The problem of agricultural product consumption is still a major concern when the link between farmers, cooperatives and businesses is still limited; market information is not connected smoothly.

In addition, cold storage systems and processing facilities serving the preservation and improvement of agricultural product value are still lacking.
From that reality, he proposed that the Central Association study and build a digital ecosystem of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to connect farmers with the market, businesses, cooperatives and consumers. This will be a breakthrough solution to solve bottlenecks in agricultural production and consumption.
To realize this goal, Mr. Trung proposed 5 groups of solutions.
First, build a unified digital database on farmer members, key products, production areas, cooperatives and linked consumption enterprises nationwide.
Second, forming a digital agricultural product trading floor of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, directly connecting farmers with distribution systems, supermarkets, export businesses and consumers.
Third, establish community digital technology teams in the Association system at all levels to support members in applying artificial intelligence (AI), e-commerce, digital payments, traceability and product digitization.
Fourth, build the program "Each Association official is a digital transformation consultant", considering digital skills as a mandatory standard for the Association's staff in the new period.
Fifth, it is proposed that the Government, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade assign the Vietnam Farmers' Union to preside over or coordinate in building a national agricultural product consumption connection network; regularly update market information, forecast supply and demand, and warn farmers of risks.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Trung, if the above solutions are effectively implemented, it will create a strong shift from agricultural production thinking to agricultural economy; from individual support to value chain support; from traditional farmers to digital farmers. Thereby contributing to improving income, building a team of professional and civilized farmers, meeting development requirements in the new era and effectively implementing the goals of the Resolution of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Congress for the 2026-2031 term.
Mr. Phan Nhu Nguyen - Standing Vice Chairman of the 8th Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union acknowledged and highly appreciated the opinions of Hai Phong City delegates.
Mr. Phan Nhu Nguyen said that opinions related to the Association's work and the farmers' movement will be received, summarized, and reported to the Congress by the Presidium for further research, completion, and appropriate supplementation in documents as well as the orientation of the Association's activities in the coming time.
