Attending and chairing was Ms. Bui Thi Thom - Vice Chairwoman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (NDVN).
Speaking at the opening of the Press Conference, Ms. Bui Thi Thom said that the IX Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term 2026-2031, takes place in the context of the country entering a new era, actively implementing the Resolution of the XIV Party Congress and strategic Resolutions on socio-economic development of the Politburo. Farmers' Unions at all levels and the Vietnamese farming class are striving to emulate in implementing activities to implement the targets and tasks set out by important Resolutions.
Vice Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union Bui Thi Thom emphasized: "Although implementing tasks in the context of the political system implementing arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus and the Union operating under the new model directly under the Vietnam Fatherland Front associated with the two-level local government model, the term of the VIII Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (2023-2028) has achieved many positive results. Specifically, the Union's work and the farmers' movement have many breakthroughs, implementing 16/18 targets to achieve and exceed the plan; the work of advising and building mechanisms and policies has achieved many important results, and the Prime Minister has decided to approve 04 Projects...".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Viet Ha - Deputy Head of the Farmers' Affairs Committee, Central Vietnam Farmers' Union, informed about the basic contents of the IX National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term 2026-2031.
Accordingly, from June 7-8, 2026, at the Vietnam National Convention Center, Hanoi City, the IX National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term 2026-2031 will be solemnly held. The Congress has the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Breakthrough - Cooperation - Development".
The Congress was attended by 600 official delegates representing more than 10 million members and farmers nationwide, of which 66 delegates are naturally members of the 8th Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and 534 appointed delegates.
Regarding direction, the IX National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union identified the direction for the 5-year term (2026-2031) as: building a strong Vietnam Farmers' Union; promoting the role of farmers as the subject, the center in agricultural development, rural economy and new rural construction; arousing the aspiration to develop a rich and prosperous country in the new era. The Vietnam Farmers' Union is streamlined in apparatus, strong in politics, organization and action, is the core for the farmer movement, building the farmer class; taking members and farmers as the center, subject, goal and driving force to innovate the content and methods of operation.
Regarding objectives, the Congress discussed and approved 5 main objectives and 11 key targets. The Congress also identified 6 tasks and solutions for the Association's work and the farmers' movement in the 2026-2031 term, including 4 breakthrough tasks.
