Roofs that are no longer rotten
For more than half a year, Gia Lai has proven that: When the Party's will is in agreement with the people's heart, everything goes smoothly.
The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses - considered a policy for dry and run-down administration - has become a voluntary movement spreading throughout villages and hamlets. By the end of July 2025, Gia Lai province has completed 100% of the target, with more than 12,500 new houses built, repaired, and supported for poor, near-poor households and policy families. The amount of 807 billion VND mobilized is not only money, but the sweat, efforts and hearts of tens of thousands of people.
Behind each house is the contribution of tens of thousands of hands. The Army contributed more than 42,600 working days, transporting thousands of tons of materials to remote, isolated and rugged areas. The police mobilized more than 3,000 working days, mobilized more than 1,000m3 of sand, stone, dozens of tons of cement, corrugated iron, and bricks. The Fatherland Front and its member organizations contributed more than 22,600 working days, along with many household supplies and equipment to help people settle down.
From the cooperation, new roofs are built, not only to shelter from the sun and rain, but also a symbol of the spirit of "leaving no one behind".

The act of crossing all borders
Few people expected that just a few weeks before the Kalmaegi hit, Gia Lai would be the leading locality in supporting other provinces affected by storms and floods.
In early October 2025, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province mobilized emergency support of 4 billion VND for Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Cao Bang, and Bac Ninh, each province with 1 billion VND to overcome the consequences of storms and floods. A few days earlier, the province also supported Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Son La and Ha Tinh with 6 billion VND after storm No. 11 (Bualoi).
Although the locality still has many difficulties, it is still willing to share with people in need. Helping people not come from wealth, but because they have lost and been empty, like an empty roof after the fury of nature, should understand the value of sharing. Each person should contribute a little to help their compatriots during floods.
Then when Kalmaegi arrived, Gia Lai became the center of the storm. Destroyed and devastated everywhere. Many businesses, organizations and individuals inside and outside the province have voluntarily sent their hearts and materials to help Gia Lai rise up soon. Military units, police, and shock unions rushed into the storm area, rescued people, cleared the ruins, and rebuilt each roof.
Mr. Dinh Ngoc Hai - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Gia Lai province - said that immediately after the storm, the Provincial Front coordinated with agencies, units, and organizations to mobilize resources to help the locality quickly overcome the damage and soon bring people's lives back to normal.
Currently, many businesses and corporations have joined hands to support more than 12 billion VND for storm recovery. On November 13, the Provincial Front will organize a launching ceremony to support and call on organizations, businesses, agencies, units and individuals to continue to join hands to help the province soon stabilize after natural disasters.
"The Provincial Front Standing Committee has assigned the Youth Union to mobilize union members and young people at the grassroots level to contribute working days, help households rebuild their houses, clean the environment, and support schools to welcome students back soon" - Mr. Hai said.
Solidarity is strength
A fierce storm can sweep away houses, but cannot sweep away the will of the people here. From the ruins, new roofs will be built and the smiles will be fresh again.
Great solidarity is not a political slogan, it is a source of national culture. That is the image of soldiers carrying cement bags to the countryside; neighbors helping each other build houses; businesses spending money to help the poor without needing to be named... Every small action, collecting, becomes a great strength - the strength of the two words "compatriots".
From the journey to eliminate temporary houses, to acts towards the North and Central regions; from the rescue team in the heart of storm Kalmaegi, to thousands of volunteer days to help people rebuild their houses... all are the strength of solidarity.
From that united flow of strength, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan wrote a letter calling on all people to join hands to overcome the consequences of storm No. 13, together rebuilding the homeland.
"At this time, more than ever, the whole province must join hands and hearts to act urgently and responsibly, so that no one is left behind. This is not just a call, this is a responsibility to the people and an order to action. I believe that, with the tradition of solidarity and the strong will of the Gia Lai people, we will stand up stronger, making our homeland develop more sustainably and richly" - Mr. Pham Anh Tuan emphasized.
