Consolidating the great national unity bloc
The development as well as the contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community (NVNƠNN) in the journey of more than 80 years of building and developing the country with outstanding imprints are vivid proof of the consistent and consistent great unity guidelines and policies of our Party and State.
To date, the NVNƠNN community is increasingly growing in number and expanding in area, with more than 6 million people in over 130 countries and territories, with legal status, economic conditions, role, position and prestige of the community in the local society increasingly enhanced. Our compatriots abroad are connected, united with each other and increasingly attached to their homeland.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said that awareness of the role and importance of overseas Vietnamese in the great national unity bloc is increasingly being raised. Directive documents of the Party and Government emphasize the role, position and importance of overseas Vietnamese in the great national unity bloc; unanimously affirm the spirit of "overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part and a resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community, an important factor contributing to strengthening cooperative and friendly relations between our country and other countries".
Contributing to building the homeland
Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien - Chairman of the State Committee for NVNƠNN - said that most NVNƠNN entrepreneurs are successful in countries with developed economies, have experience in business administration, access to advanced technology and operate according to international standards. When returning to invest or cooperate with domestic enterprises, they not only bring new technologies, modern business models, international production standards... to help improve labor productivity, modernize production, improve the quality of domestic products and services, but also become strategic "bridges" to bring Vietnam deeper into the global economic network, especially leading financial, science and technology centers such as: USA, China, Europe, Japan, Korea...
In addition, there are also investment capital sources from overseas Vietnamese returning to the country in other indirect forms. NVNƠNN's investment and business activities have contributed to promoting socio-economic development, creating more jobs, and contributing to solving social security issues.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien said that in recent years, there has been a wave of overseas Vietnamese, especially young people born and raised abroad, with experience working at international companies, returning to invest and being quite successful domestically. Businesses founded by overseas Vietnamese, typically RYNAN Technologies Vietnam, The Lab Saigon, POPS Worldwide, Christinas, Wisepass, Phygital Labs, Base. vn, Elsa, Logivan, GotIt, Uiza, WeFit... are contributing to clearly shaping the domestic startup ecosystem. These models not only carry modern thinking but also elevate the Vietnamese brand in the international market.
According to data compiled from the State Bank and international organizations, in 2023 Vietnam received about 16 billion USD in remittances. In 2024, this figure is estimated to reach about 16.7-17 billion USD. In 2025, it will reach about 18-18.5 billion USD, an increase of nearly 1.5 billion USD compared to the previous year. It is estimated that in 2026, the amount of remittances will continue to increase.
Notably, Vietnam has been in the Top 10 countries receiving the largest remittances in the world for many years, according to a World Bank report. This shows that financial resources from the Vietnamese community abroad are not short-term cash flow, but are highly stable.
With a wide network of international relations, Vietnamese entrepreneurs abroad have been and are an effective bridge between Vietnamese businesses and global markets. They support trade promotion, investment and market connection, and partner introduction. Through associations and clubs of overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs, they contribute to bringing Vietnamese products and brands to the international stage, while bringing international standards to Vietnam, promoting the country's deep economic integration process, thereby creating an image of an integrated, dynamic, friendly and culturally rich Vietnam. These are intangible but sustainable values, contributing to consolidating national soft power, supporting State diplomacy, and creating international trust and sympathy for Vietnam.
