The Front Strategy and Policy Institute was established under the Decision of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, as a unit for research, consultation, criticism and policy communication under the Front. The Institute was formed on the basis of inheriting and developing the Institute of Workers and Trade Unions - an agency for scientific research on the working class, trade unions and the Vietnamese labor movement, a unit that has made many important contributions to policy making, criticism and communication over the years.
In 2025, implementing the policy of perfecting the organizational apparatus, the Institute of Workers and Trade Unions and the Labor and Trade Union Magazine will be arranged, merged, and developed into the Institute of Strategic Research and the Labor - Trade Union Magazine. On that foundation, the Front Strategy and Policy Institute was officially born, marking a strategic development step, aiming to build a modern scientific - policy - communication institution, where intelligence, practical experience and aspiration to contribute to sustainable development and social consensus converge.
under the Institute of Strategy and Policy of the Front, the Labor Union Magazine is a journalism - academic agency inheriting the 96-year tradition of the Labor and Trade Union Magazine, originating from the Red Festival Magazine (1929) - the first newspaper of the Vietnamese working class.
Speaking at the program, Dr. Le Cao Thang - Director of the Institute of Strategy and Policy of the Front said that the Institute of Strategy and Policy of the Front identified 5 major orientations as guiding principles for all activities: Strongly developing research capacity and strategic thinking, linking scientific knowledge with practice, so that each research result becomes a valuable source of reference for policy making of the Front and its member organizations. Strengthen survey and investigation of sociology and build a database on social consensus, honestly reflecting the thoughts, aspirations, beliefs and voices of the people.
Forming an open critical and dialogue ecosystem, where scientists, cadres, businesses and people exchange and seek a common voice for the interests of the nation and the community.
Expand domestic and international cooperation, absorb the quintessence of human knowledge, enrich the Institute's research and policy consulting platform, and promote the image of Vietnam in solidarity, compassion, and sharing to international friends.
Build the organization and people of the Institute to be modern, professional, creative, taking intelligence - ethics - responsibility as the root, so that the Institute truly becomes a common home for those who do research, criticism and policy communication work with heart and vision.
Along with that, the Institute pays special attention to developing the Labor Union Magazine as the leading policy and academic communication agency in the Front system - a place to connect research with practice, between academic thinking and people's lives.
