Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), Can Tho City Power Company has just coordinated with the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City to organize a house handover ceremony for households in Dong Thuan commune, in response to the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Government.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Quoc Hoan - Deputy General Director of EVNSPC - said that, along with the task of ensuring safe and stable power supply for economic development and people's lives in the southern provinces, EVNSPC identified social responsibility as an important part of EVNSPC's sustainable development strategy.
Every year, EVNSPC spends significant resources to implement social security programs such as: Supporting the construction of houses of gratitude, charity houses, solidarity houses; giving scholarships to poor students overcoming difficulties; giving gifts to poor households and policy families; caring for and supporting Vietnamese Mothers;...

In particular, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of construction and development (1975 - 2025), EVNSPC has spent all the savings of VND 18.9 billion from not organizing celebration activities and anniversaries to support the southern provinces in implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, with a total of 315 houses (worth VND 60 million/house). In addition, EVNSPC and its member units are also continuing to mobilize other sources of funding outside of society to support localities in the area in building 500 more houses for poor households and households with housing difficulties with a total cost of 30 billion VND.
In the new Can Tho City alone (including the old Hau Giang and the old Soc Trang), EVNSPC has donated a total of 2.7 billion VND to support the construction of 45 new temporary and dilapidated houses. Of which, 30 houses in the old Hau Giang and old Soc Trang provinces have been completed and handed over to households by EVNSPC in coordination with local authorities.
This time, EVNSPC has handed over 10 houses to households in Dong Thuan commune (Can Tho city), 5 other houses in the communes of Can Tho city have also been completed and handed over to households. Thus, up to this point, EVNSPC has completed 45 houses responding to the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the new Can Tho City.
EVNSPC hopes that new, more spacious and solid houses handed over right before the rainy season will help households feel more secure in life, while having more confidence and determination to overcome difficulties, actively work and produce, escape poverty, and contribute to the overall development of the locality, Mr. Bui Quoc Hoan shared.

Witnessing the house handover ceremony to households, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City - thanked the electricity industry and other sponsors for sharing and supporting poor and near-poor households in the area.
The houses that are supported for construction, although their value is not high, contain the affection and concern of the Party, the State, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the city; at the same time, they express the hearts and feelings of businesses and philanthropists, sending them to poor households and near-poor households with difficult housing circumstances to add strength, encourage and motivate poor households and near-poor households to work enthusiastically to produce, and self-reliantly escape poverty to build a prosperous and happy life, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang shared.
As one of the households receiving the house supported by EVNSPC, Ms. Tran Ngoc Lay (Dong Loi hamlet, Dong Thuan commune) shared that her husband had passed away, life was very difficult, so even though the old and dilapidated house was in ruins, she still had no conditions to renovate or rebuild it. Now with the help of the electricity industry and local authorities at all levels, the house is built spaciously and solidly. My children and I are so happy! Thank you to authorities at all levels, thank you to the electricity industry very much. I will work hard, try to improve my life and protect and take good care of my house," Ms. Lay shared.
