On the morning of June 29, the Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Soc Trang province held a conference to summarize the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Soc Trang province Ho Thi Cam Dao affirmed: "Supporting housing for meritorious people, ethnic minorities, poor households, and near-poor households is not only a political task but also has profound humanitarian significance, demonstrating the principle of gratitude, self-love, and contributing to realizing the motto "no one is left behind"".
The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee said that in the next phase when the province rearranges administrative units and builds a streamlined, effective and efficient apparatus, caring for disadvantaged groups will continue to be prioritized. In addition to housing, support policies will aim at livelihoods, education, health care and employment, helping people to rise up and escape poverty on their own.

According to the report, through a review of the whole province, there are 8,917 temporary and dilapidated houses that need support. Of which, 6,549 houses were newly built and 2,368 houses were repaired. The total budget for implementing the program is more than 463.6 billion VND, mobilized from many different sources.
The Steering Committee from the province to the grassroots has been very active, developing working regulations and clearly assigning tasks to each unit. Thanks to that, the whole province completed 100% of the target in less than 6 months, reaching the finish line 3 months ahead of schedule.
The program also recorded many creative models and approaches such as "Synchronous groundbreaking ceremony", "Love House built by union members" or the "Whoever has something to contribute" movement from hamlets and villages.
More than 42,000 working days from the armed forces, youth union members, women and local people have been mobilized to directly transport materials, build houses and roof. 103 youth volunteer teams with more than 1,200 union members have made an important contribution to the progress of the program.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Yen, a resident of Ward 3 (Soc Trang City, Soc Trang Province) emotionally shared: "From now on, we no longer worry about when the wind and rain come, no longer have to worry about the dilapidated, shabby roofs. This is truly a meaningful and humane act, demonstrating the connection between the Party's will and the people's heart".
In the entire term, Soc Trang has supported the construction and repair of nearly 15,000 houses for meritorious people, poor households, and ethnic minorities with a total value of over 700 billion VND. The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025 has been comprehensively completed, contributing to improving people's lives, sustainable poverty reduction and promoting the great national unity bloc.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province presented certificates of merit to 35 collectives and 73 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Soc Trang province in 2025". In addition, individuals with achievements in mobilizing resources to carry out emulation movements were also awarded certificates of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.
