During the recent holiday, the coastal sand dune area stretching from Gia Ninh commune to Cam Hong commune (Quang Tri) attracted many tourists to visit and take photos at wind power poles. However, the subsided sand terrain and lack of travel experience caused many cars to fall into the mud.
On the afternoon of May 1st, a group of tourists from Ninh Binh when turning into this area to check-in were trapped in the sand dunes. Despite trying to maneuver, the car still sank deep and could not move. After more than an hour of waiting, they were discovered and supported by a local resident.
The person who helped was Dr. Nguyen Duc Hung (Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital). After grasping the situation, he returned home a few kilometers away to get the rope, then returned to rescue the vehicle. After only about 30 minutes, the car escaped the sand pit.
When asked to send expenses, Mr. Hung refused and said "Just remember Quang Tri is enough".
Previously, on April 27, a Hanoi tourist also fell into a similar situation. The car carrying her family sank deep in the sand dunes while on a cross-Vietnam journey.
In the midst of confusion and panic, a pickup truck with Quang Tri license plate turned around to assist. Two brothers Hoang Truong Nhan and Hoang Truong Thinh (residing in Cam Hong commune) after discovering the incident ran home about 15km away to get the rope, then returned to rescue.
The rescue process was not easy when the car sank deeply and had to change direction to pull many times. After a while of "brain-wagging", the tourist car escaped from the sandbar.

What moved tourists was not only the timely help, but also the sincere attitude. After completing, the two brothers Nhan and Thinh quietly left, without receiving any money.
According to Mr. Nhan, assisting vehicles in getting stuck in this area is not the first time. Many tourists due to subjectivity when driving into sand dunes have encountered similar incidents, and he is always ready to help when possible. "Tourists coming to my hometown are happy, help if they can, why accept money," he said.
Small but meaningful stories amidst the sun and wind of Central Vietnam have contributed to creating a beautiful image of the simple, sincere people of Quang Tri who are always willing to help strangers in difficult times.
