Tropical depression makes landfall tonight and weakens rapidly
At 13:00 on September 13, the center of the tropical depression was located at about 17.2 degrees North latitude - 107.2 degrees East longitude, on the coastal sea of Quang Tri province. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is strong at level 6-7 (39-61 km/h), gusting at level 8-9.
Forecast for the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in a West-Northwest direction at a speed of about 10 km/h and gradually weaken into a low pressure area.
It is expected that on the evening and night of September 13, the tropical depression will enter the mainland from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri, intensity level 5, coastal level 6, gusts level 8.
By 13:00 on September 14, the center of the low pressure area will be located at approximately 17.6 degrees North latitude - 105.1 degrees East longitude; over the Central Laos region. Wind intensity will decrease to below level 6.
Heavy rain in Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, then expanding to the North
The coastal mainland area from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri has strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8; deep inland areas have strong winds of level 5, in some places level 6, gusts of level 7. Strong winds can blow off roofs, damage temporary structures, break down green trees and billboards; affecting electricity, communication and transportation systems.
Heavy rain occurred in the midland and delta areas of the Northern region, and in the south of Son La, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai provinces; the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue.
From the evening of September 13 to September 15, the area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 150-350mm, locally over 500mm.
On the night of September 13th, the midland and delta areas of the Northern region, the south of Son La and Phu Tho provinces will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 20-50mm, locally over 100mm.
From September 14 to September 15, the midland and delta areas of the Northern region, the south of Son La, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai provinces will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall from 70-150mm, locally over 200mm.
Heavy rain may cause flooding in urban areas, industrial parks and low-lying areas; increasing the risk of floods on small rivers and streams, flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.

At sea, the sea area from southern Nghe An to Quang Tri (including Con Co special zone and Hon Ngu island) has strong winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 8-9, sea waves are 2-4m high; strong rough seas. In addition, due to the influence of cold air combined with the northern circulation of the tropical depression, the area of the Northern Gulf (including Bach Long Vi special zone) has strong northeast winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusts of level 8, sea waves are 2-4m high; strong rough seas.
Dangerous weather conditions can cause capsizing, sinking or damage to fishing boats, transport boats, tourist boats and vehicles operating at sea; aquaculture cages, boat anchorage areas and coastal works are at risk of being damaged. Seafood exploitation, transportation and tourism activities at sea are likely to be interrupted.
